Harry and Meghan followed protocol for Grandma Queen’s farewell and later provided “kind support”

After the Queen passed away on September 8, 2022, the Royal Family was forced to take over the numerous responsibilities that had been delegated to them.

Coincidentally, the news of the Queen’s bad health reached London while Prince Harry and his wife Meghan were there. Consequently, the couple has stood by the Royal Family throughout it all.

The funeral of the Queen attracted media coverage from all across the world. During the royal time of grief leading up to the funeral on September 19, 2022, all eyes were on the Royal Family.

Harry and Meghan suffered harsh criticism earlier on September 15, 2022, during a service at Westminister Hall for holding hands during what was perceived as a formal and solemn event.

People were upset because the pair chose to hold hands

, which was viewed as disrespectful to the seriousness of the occasion, while other members of the Royal Family were extremely formal.

Others, on the other hand, believed that the couple’s holding hands was not only absolutely normal but also wholly justified. The pair was backed by journalist Lorraine Kelly as she spoke with royal authority Jennie Bond. And quite spontaneously, she said, “He held hands with his wife as he should on the way out [of the service].”

She remarked that it was “lovely to see” the couple hold hands as Harry took possession of his mother Diana’s sapphire engagement ring before giving it to William because Kate obviously needed support from his wife during such trying times that he was going through following the death of his cherished grandmother.

And it appears that the Sussexes were aware of the media attention and criticism they had received since on September 19, 2022, at the Queen’s burial, the pair maintained their formal demeanour while maintaining a physical distance from one another.

An expert in body language even said the couple showed a “lack of affection” for one another. Expert in body language Katia Loisel concurred that the couple kept their distance from one another out of caution due to the negative feedback they received for holding hands at the previous event.

They didn’t hold or link their hands or arms together while they strolled side by side. Loisel continued by interpreting the Duchess’ nonverbal cues and admiring what she was doing.
