The moniker given to Meghan Markle by King Charles denotes “toughness” and “resilience.”
Following the departure of Queen Elizbaeth, Buckingham Palace is now starting to quiet down.
The UK’s longest-reigning monarch, who had ruled the country for an amazing 70 years, passed away last month at the ripe old age of 96.
Indeed, she was honoured by mourners from all around the world as she was laid to rest after a lifetime of devotion. Charles, her son, succeeds as king, a position he had undoubtedly been psychologically preparing for ever since he was old enough to think clearly.
Yes, Queen Elizabeth’s death brings an end to one period of British history, but it also ushers in a new one. The general public has long speculated what Charles would be like as King and what life would be like for the royals without Elizabeth in charge.
They now have their response. It can be assumed that Charles, who is 73 and who waited longer than any other heir apparent in history to take the throne, will want to move quickly to guarantee a smooth transition between how things were done under his late mother’s rule and how things will be done going forward.
He has a lot of work to do, which should go without saying. After all, being King of England involves more than just enjoying cake and relaxing in a comfy chair.
No, it seems like a lot of labour is required (who knew?). The sensitive matter of his son, Prince Harry, and his partner, Meghan Markle, will be among his most urgent obligations.
So what do you think Charles will do there? How does he feel about his partner and youngest son? What moniker was given to Meghan by Charles when she joined the royal family?
The death of Queen Elizabeth was one of the few historical occasions that truly brought the UK together.
The show must go on, after all, so the dust may have finally settled after her passing, but that shouldn’t change the fact that once the Queen passed away, all eyes were almost exclusively focused on Buckingham Palace.
It’s safe to say that millions of people, each in their own way, will miss Her Majesty. Her family and the employees, who spend a large portion of their working lives in and around her presence, will undoubtedly feel her loss the most deeply.
But because of the size of her position, Queen Elizabeth developed an almost maternal aura, at least among the people of the UK.
Queen Elizabeth was so much more than only a monarch or a figurehead. She served as a symbol of the past and the present, an institution and an icon.
She held the throne of England for 70 years, which is nothing short of remarkable. The tributes that were paid to her after her death attest to both the popularity of the monarch throughout the nation and the success of her reign.
Charles, formerly known as the Prince of Wales, is now the King of the United Kingdom and the 14 Commonwealth realms. He is the eldest son and heir of the Queen.
In a statement, King Charles said, “The passing of my dear Mother, Her Majesty The Queen, is a moment of the deepest anguish for me and all members of my family.
“We deeply lament the loss of a beloved Mother and beloved Sovereign. I am confident that the nation, the Realms, the Commonwealth, as well as a large number of people all over the world, will be devastated by her passing.
“My family and I shall be comforted and strengthened during this season of loss and change,” King Charles continued, “by our knowledge of the respect and deep affection with which The Queen was so universally held.”
As the Royal Family members resume their duties in the wake of the Queen’s departure, their lives are gradually returning to normal. That means various new engagements for Camilla and King Charles, especially for the King, who regrettably must resign from some of his charitable work.
The emphasis on the future cohesion of the Royal Family itself will undoubtedly be key among the many responsibilities the new King will now assume.
For it is undeniable that the British royal family has been in trouble during the past two years, not the least of which is because a few of them have become involved in controversy.
The official announcement by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in 2020 that they would be resigning from their royal duties in order to enjoy lives away from the intense spotlight that is always focused on Buckingham Palace generated headlines.
The effects of Harry and Meghan’s choice to leave the UK entirely as well as to withdraw from the Royal Family have, of course, been felt widely. When it comes to the royal family, sensational headlines and confusing rumours are never far away, so it only makes sense that one of Princess Diana’s sons would decide to leave and subsequently dish the dirt on his family. And he did give out the dirt.
As you might recall, Harry and Meghan got married in 2018. Prince Harry gave the first indication that things were not going well in terms of their daily lives as working royals as early as 2019. He made the famous admissions that Meghan was “struggling” and that he and William had “good days” and “difficult days” when on a visit of South Africa.
Harry made the remarks just a few months before he and Meghan retired from their roles as royals. They would imply that not enough was done to assist Meghan when she was at her worst when living in England during the iconic tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Since then, Harry has visited the UK; he was present for the Queen’s funeral most recently, as well as the inauguration of a statue honouring his late mother, Princess Diana. However, if stories are to be believed, his once-solid relationship with Prince William and King Charles has suffered.
It should go without saying that King Charles will want to bridge that gap, especially given Prince Harry is scheduled to publish a memoir later this year that may provide additional information about matters Buckingham Palace would prefer to keep a secret.
But if rumours are to be accepted, there is still hope.
It was rumoured that Harry extended an olive branch to his father when the Queen passed away in an effort to put a stop to the feud. Although Harry and Meghan have already moved back to the US to be with their children, one may anticipate that he and Charles will continue to communicate in some way.
King Charles is rumoured to have his own nickname for Meghan, one that he gave her when she allegedly displayed tenacity during her and Prince Harry’s appearance at the Royal Foundation Forum in 2018.
According to Page Six, Charles refers to Meghan as “Tungsten,” a third transition series strong steel-grey metal with the highest melting point of all metallic elements.
Katie Nicholl, the author of “The New Royals,” states in her book that this was the turning point when William and Kate, who was very pregnant, recognised they needed to step up their game.
The Cambridges [now known as the Prince and Princess of Wales] had previously made it clear that they didn’t want to be merely “ornamental royals,” and they and Prince Harry had made a big success of their Heads Together mental health campaign.
But Meghan was the group’s breakout star, she continued. She presented her point in a professional, impassioned, and humorous manner, utilising all of her TV-honed skills. The realisation that Meghan was very remarkable, very confident, and very talented was a wake-up call for William and Kate, the source claims.
