Carl Weathers passed away at age 76; tributes are given by Stallone, Schwarzenegger, Sandler, and others
Many of Carl Weathers’ most well-known co-stars are paying tribute to the 76-year-old actor who passed away on Thursday.
The star of Weathers’ 1996 comedy “Happy Gilmore,” Adam Sandler, is leading the tributes to the “Rocky” actor.
Sandler, 57, described himself as “a true great man” on X, a platform that was originally Twitter.
Fantastic father. Great actor. fantastic athlete. Very enjoyable to be around all the time,” he went on Friday. “Very intelligent. utterly devoted. As hilarious as ever. cherished his sons above all else. What a kind person!
Everyone adored him, Sandler continued. Every time my wife and I saw him, we had the nicest times. Warm regards to Carl’s whole family, and he will always be remembered as a real legend.
Weathers portrayed Chubbs Peterson in “Happy Gilmore,” a former professional golfer who lost his hand to an alligator assault.

On Instagram, Weathers’ co-star in “The Predator,” Arnold Schwarzenegger, also honoured his pal Friday.
“Carl Weathers will go on as a legend forever. An amazing person, an amazing athlete, and a wonderful actress. The former California governor commented, “Without him, we couldn’t have made Predator,” attaching a picture of the two of them sharing the movie’s famously strong handshake. And we most definitely wouldn’t have enjoyed ourselves as much while creating it.
“Working with him, both on and off set, was an absolute pleasure.” He was the kind of friend who makes you want to give it your all in order to stay up with him. Schwarzenegger said, “I’ll miss him and my thoughts are with his family.”
Sylvester Stallone, the 77-year-old co-star of Weathers in “Rocky,” spoke to the camera in an emotional video that was uploaded to Instagram on Friday, discussing the late actor’s contributions to the iconic franchise.
“I’m having a really bad day today. Stallone began, “I can’t even tell you how broken up I am.
“What a terrible loss… “He was magical,” he went on. “Without him, I could never have achieved what we did with ‘Rocky’.”

He began his football career as a linebacker for the Oakland Raiders and later went on to perform in TV shows and motion pictures, most notably in the first four “Rocky” films as Apollo Creed.
Pedro Pascal, his co-star in “Mandalorian,” merely shared a picture of Weathers on Instagram with the emoticon of a crushed heart and the brief statement “words fail.”
In addition, comedian Dane Cook posted a thank-you note on X accompanied with a video of the actor in the role of Creed. He wrote, “RIP to the legend Carl Weathers.”
“As soon as I heard it, your performance of it in Rocky moved me. It is my way of life. I was convinced by your performance and voice. For that, I adore you. Man, rest in power and peace.

More recently, Weathers voiced Combat Carl in the 2019 film “Toy Story 4,” portrayed Greef Karga on “The Mandalorian,” and had an appearance as himself on the Fox comedy series “Arrested Development.”
