The daughter of Gene Hackman discusses what she believes killed her father

Legendary actor Gene Hackman was discovered dead at his Santa Fe home this past Wednesday, and his passing has left the globe in mourning. His wife, Betsy Arakawa, and their dog, who also passed away sadly, were by his side. Although Hackman, 95, had a long and successful life, many issues have been raised by the sudden death of his younger wife, Betsy, at the age of 63.

Gene’s daughter has now spoken up about what she thinks may have led to the terrible deaths, which is a very sad moment.

Elizabeth Jean Hackman revealed in an interview with TMZ that although the family is unsure of the exact cause of the deaths, they believe carbon monoxide poisoning may be the cause. According to Elizabeth, “the house is fairly modern, built in 2000, but we don’t know if there were any gas leak issues or if there were any recent service calls to the property.” When a neighbour voiced concerns, authorities acted swiftly and conducted a welfare check on the residence.

Following the deputies’ discovery of the dead, representatives from the fire department and gas company assisted in making sure that no hazardous vapours remained that could pose a threat to others.

Elizabeth depicted her father’s tranquil retirement despite the devastating loss. After his retirement in 2004, Gene and Betsy had made New Mexico their home, where Gene painted quietly. Elizabeth disclosed that The French Connection, which helped establish her father as one of Hollywood’s best actors, was his favourite film. Over the course of his career, the actor appeared in more than 70 films. Hackman revealed in 2009 that a stress test that worried his doctors was the cause of his decision to move away from the glamour of Hollywood.

He told Empire, “A stress test I took in New York was actually the straw that broke the camel’s back.” “The doctor told me that I shouldn’t be putting any stress on my heart because it wasn’t in the right condition.” Elizabeth mentioned a rare public appearance just last March in which Gene was spotted walking with a cane with Betsy by his side, but she refrained from making any direct comments regarding his health.

Although the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s office, under the leadership of Sheriff Adan Mendoza, is keeping all options open as they continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this devastating loss, the investigation is still ongoing and officials have not discovered any indications of foul play.

Since 1991, Hackman and Arakawa had been wed. Although the former celebrated his 95th birthday in late January, some fans expressed concern about his appearance after a public sighting last year. Hackman created a tremendous body of work in Hollywood over the course of four incredible decades. In the late 2000s, the writer and actor quietly ended his career in front of the cameras. He took this action after implying in a Larry King interview from 2004 that he had no upcoming productions planned.

The passing of Gene Hackman, his wife, and their dog leaves a void in the film industry and in the hearts of many who loved his work. Although the Hackman family is still in mourning, they are committed to learning the truth about this tragic incident.
