Rudy Giuliani’s Blunt Six-Word Warning to Zohran Mamdani After NYC Mayoral Victory
Zohran Mamdani’s victory in the New York City mayoral race has sparked a firestorm of reactions. Supporters of the MAGA movement have labeled him a communist, and President Donald Trump has even threatened to withhold federal funding from the city if Mamdani takes office. Now, Rudy Giuliani, the former NYC mayor and Trump’s longtime attorney, has chimed in with some harsh words for the incoming mayor.
Mamdani is set to officially become mayor just after midnight on January 1, 2026, as mandated by city rules, with a formal swearing-in ceremony to follow soon after.

He clinched the win with 50.4% of the vote in the early November election, defeating independent candidate Andrew Cuomo. While plenty of New Yorkers are celebrating the 34-year-old’s historic victory, not everyone’s on board—especially in MAGA circles.
Just days before the November 4 vote, Trump, who had thrown his support behind Cuomo, issued a stark warning. He called Mamdani a “communist” and vowed to pull back federal dollars from the city if he won.
“Like him or not, you’ve got no real choice but to vote for Andrew Cuomo and hope he steps up,” Trump posted on his platform. He added that voting for Curtis Sliwa would only split the vote and hand the win to Mamdani.
“If that communist Zohran Mamdani actually wins the mayor’s race, don’t expect me to keep pouring federal money into my old hometown—except the bare minimum I’m forced to give,” Trump wrote. “New York’s got no shot at thriving, let alone surviving, under a communist leader. It’ll only spiral downhill, and I’m not about to waste taxpayer dollars on a lost cause. My job is to look out for the whole country, and I’m convinced the city will crash and burn—economically and socially—if Mamdani’s in charge.”
Mamdani fired back at Trump after his win, but the criticism hasn’t let up. As he gears up to take the reins, other Trump allies are piling on.
Giuliani, who received a presidential pardon on Monday for his role in challenging the 2020 election results, didn’t hold back in an interview with the New York Post. His advice to Mamdani? Step aside before it’s too late.
“Don’t do it—step down and find something else,” Giuliani said, pointing to Mamdani’s appearance alongside Imam Suraj Wahhaj as evidence of ties to “Muslim extremism.”
“That imam’s a big backer of terrorism,” he claimed. “It’s not about Mamdani being Muslim. It’s about him cozying up to extremists.”

Giuliani Calls Mamdani a National Security Risk
Giuliani, who led New York through the aftermath of 9/11 and earned the nickname “America’s Mayor,” went further, painting Mamdani as a danger to the country.
“Would the feds ever clear this guy for sensitive info?” Giuliani asked the Post. “Zohran Mamdani’s a communist and a sympathizer with Muslim terrorism—he’s a genuine threat to America’s safety.”
