Shocking Viral Photo of Trump Kissing His Aide on a Golf Course Forces White House to Speak

The White House has answered after a photograph that looks like President Donald Trump kissing his assistant tore through social media. In the image that started spreading on September 16, Trump appears to pull a blonde woman close on a golf course.

Plenty of people decided almost at once that the woman was Natalie Harp, the 35 year old aide who has worked for him for about four years. A White House spokesperson did not spend much time on it. The picture, the official said, was “clearly a fake photo.”

Snopes has been looking at two versions now circulating online. One is far sharper than the other and shows the usual giveaways of an AI edit, including a hand with too many fingers and a watermark tied to OpenAI tools. The blurrier copy is too soft for those details to stand out. Hany Farid, co founder of the deepfake detection firm Get Real, told Snopes the high resolution frame was clearly generated and taken from the low quality one. He called the authenticity of the blurry shot inconclusive.

The picture first started popping up on X on September 14. One commenter wrote that thirty years ago a photo like this could have wrecked a politician’s career overnight. Today it barely interrupts the news cycle.

Only the back of the woman’s head is visible, so nobody can prove it is Harp. The assumption still stuck because of a letter she reportedly wrote after a golf trip to Scotland. The New York Times published excerpts in which she apologized if she had been “an embarrassment walking the course in Scotland.” She signed it “With all my heart, Natalie.” Earlier reporting said she once told Trump, “You are all that matters to me.”

CNN, citing sources, has also described a moment when Harp was so set on going with Trump to court that she rode in the trunk of an SUV after being told there were no seats left in the motorcade.

She has been in the headlines again after Georgia Democrat Sen. Jon Ossoff told a rally crowd that Trump “doesn’t want to do the job” and would rather “build his ballroom and travel with Natalie.”

Journalists Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan wrote in their book Regime Change that Trump once told staff that while the rest of them would go off and make money, Harp would “never leave me.”
