What it Means to be Rich

If you have a family that loves you, a few good friends & a roof over your head you are richer than you think.

There is a prayer that says ” that I may be wealthy in friends in a relationship, and in money”.

 This Prayer is beautiful because it recognizes wealth as not just money, but as friendship and relationships. A lot of the time, we tend to measure success, and riches, and wealth by monetary values and material things.

Sadly, that’s not what riches is all about. Life has taught us a lot of lessons, and if life has taught me anything, it is that the things we are most rich in are the things that cannot be counted in money. 

In terms of money, or, in terms of material things, here’s something I have come to realise, if you have a roof over your head, a family that loves you, friends that would always be there for you in times of crisis. then you are richer than you could ever imagine.

This is because being rich  is about having good things in our body and being rich, is about having good things in abundance. It is not about having so much money that we do not know what to do with it. Rather, It’s about being rich in the things that can. 

That is why when we count riches, we count, friends, family, loved ones, food on our table, a roof over our head, clean water to drink, and some of the basic amenities that we take for granted. When you count these things and you have them, then you are rich.
