The story of a little boy who saved his sister and mother during a terrifying situation

A five-year-old became a hero after his actions saved his sister and mom during an emergency.

When their neighbor heard a knock on her door and was surprised to see the boy carrying his 2-month-old sister.

Five-year-old San Tan Valley was able to save his mother by following his instincts. He did all he did without any instruction.

Salvatore was lying on the bed when he heard a noise in the bathroom. On getting to the bathroom, he saw his mom lying on the ground looking lifeless. He didn’t panic or start crying beside his mom, he wrapped his 2-month sister in a blanket and carried her to their neighbor’s house.

‘’He is standing there and holding something and I thought it was a doll,’’ said Jessica Penner to ABC15.

The confused neighbor thought their dog died, but he insisted it was his mom that died in the shower and asked him to take care of them.

Jessica quickly called 911 and the first responders saw the mom slumped on the ground and unresponsive. Thanks to Salvatore, the situation didn’t get worse.

‘’Honestly, he saved my life. I was under the faucet. If he wouldn’t have gotten help, I would have drowned,’’ Kaitlyn Cicalese, Salvatore’s mother, said to the local news channel.

It all began after Kaitlyn put the kids to bed and wanted to have a shower, which was the last thing she remembered when she woke up and realized she was in the hospital.

The rural Metro firefighters were impressed with his bravery and presented him with a certificate, a helmet, and a patch.

Shawn Gilleland, the fire spokesperson presented Sal as an ‘’honorary firefighter,’’ and Sal was so excited.

The firefighters thanked his parents for raising such a brave son. They were able to give a clear set of instructions on how kids should respond to an emergency.

‘’Talk to them about it. What do you need to do? How do you dial 911? What are the proper uses for 911? Also, how do you get out of your house? What to do if there is a fire ‘said Gilleland to ABC15.

Sal did the right thing and the parents revealed they never thought Sal all these steps, all that Sal did were his instincts.
