Mother delivers quintuplets after struggling for five years to get pregnant

Jamie and Skyler Scott welcomed their first child Shayden in 2005 just a year after they got married.

Jamie had her second child, Landon a few years later and they spent another five years looking for another child, but they didn’t know they were in for a shock.

They were able to get a fertility specialist who was able to help them.

Jamie at 19 weeks of pregnancy looked like she was due and had to use a wheelchair to aid her movement.

She received IVF treatments and they were expecting to see two babies, but they were in for a shock.

They were expecting five kids as shown on the ultrasound. They least expected it; as they wanted to have three more kids, but things hardly go as expected.

“I went through so many pregnancy tests, I was used to seeing a negative,” Jamie tells People.

After the pregnancy test, Jamie showed a high level of HCG hormones and that’s where it was obvious that something was up.

The couple thought they were expecting twins, but when the nurse showed the ultrasound they were expecting quintuplets.

“I was absolutely in awe, and I cried to see all of those babies on the screen,” explains Jamie.

She was advised to consume more calories so she would gain at least 45kg.

“It’s a little much because it’s already like having a giant pumpkin in my belly. I feel full all the time, yet I’m hungry and thirsty all the time. I have to eat more small meals throughout the day but packed with high-calories,” Jamie says.

They needed to be more careful as they were expecting more babies and moved to Phoenix, Arizona where a close eye was kept on her by obstetricians.

Doctor John Elliot was specifically asked to take care of Jamie as he has delivered 24 sets of quints and 108 sets of quadruplets!

The couple was surprised at the turnout of events, but they were very happy.

Jamie says, “I wanted to be a great mother for all these individual human beings, and I was thinking about how we were going to do this. Then, I just had this overwhelming peace come over me, and just this message, ‘Just be love.’ I thought I can do that.”

The quints came to the world at 29 weeks and they are doing great.

“The messages of love and hope that we’ve received from around the world have helped strengthen us to get through this tough time of very, very high-risk pregnancy,” says Jamie.
