According to a source, Meghan Markle sends desperate texts to friends urging them to ‘hang out.
After years of interviews, a Netflix series, and a tell-all book, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle must be ready for a quiet existence in the United States. Of course, their numerous charges, revelations, and claims against the British Royal Family have left an indelible impact on the Duke’s family in the UK.
Harry and Meghan haven’t disclosed any new projects in the United States, but the money they allegedly made from their Netflix documentary series and Harry’s book, Spare, could keep them busy for a long time.
Since migrating to the United States, the pair has been busy establishing a new life, however not everything looks to be going swimmingly.
Interestingly, those friends may not share Meghan’s enthusiasm, as she is reportedly seen by some as a low-level reality celebrity.
Harry’s recent visit to the United Kingdom and “reunion” with his family was brief. The prince came in London soon before his father’s historic coronation and left shortly after. King Charles is believed to have asked Harry to a more private lunch later that day, but to his father’s dismay, the Duke flew back to the United States to celebrate his son Archie’s birthday with his family.
When Harry skipped the private lunch, some royals were thought to breathe a sigh of relief. Perhaps that isn’t so unexpected given what Harry has recently said about the family, not least in his tell-all memoir.
The book was a big success for Harry. He allegedly received $20 million for writing Spare, and his publisher, Penguin Random House, was overjoyed with the sales figures. It’s reasonable to believe that Harry could write a second book using the material that didn’t make the final Spare draught.
Interestingly, another large project may be in the pipeline in the near future.
Earlier this year, a senior industry source told the Express that the success of Harry’s book had astonished Penguin Random House, and that “the heat is on” to get Meghan Markle to write one as well.
The publisher’s four-book contract with Harry and Meghan was believed to contain a whopping $20 million advance. However, global royalties for Harry’s book might exceed $120 million. According to one industry source, the statistics “surprised everyone.”
“Nobody expected sales figures like the ones we are seeing,” the source told Express.
“Harry could easily surpass the Obamas’ combined book sales, the company’s current joint best-selling authors.” That is why the pressure is on to have Meghan’s account of events – both with the Royal Family and with her own family members in America – out there in print as soon as possible, hopefully early next year to pick up sales when Spare’s demand diminishes.”
While the Sussexes are thought to be working on a leadership book right now, the insider suggests Meghan consider focusing on a memoir of her own.
A book of this calibre would surely become Penguin Random House’s top priority.
“Having seen Harry’s sales, they’re convinced Meghan’s story in her own words can sell even more, especially in the US,” said an industry insider.
It remains to be seen whether Meghan will publish a memoir. However, royal pundit Andre Phillips believes she will, comparing her and Harry to former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if she came out with a book herself,” Phillips remarked.
“I feel like they’re trying to follow in the footsteps of the Obamas in some ways, because Barack had a book, and now Michelle has a book.” So I believe she will surely release her bombshell tell-all.”
Harry and Meghan Markle’s current life in Montecito, California, appears to be very different from the one they left behind in the United Kingdom. Above all, they aren’t constantly followed by paparazzi, and the fact that Meghan was able to give birth to daughter Lilibet in relative solitude compared to when Archie was born in the UK was life-changing.
Let’s not even get started on the weather…
The pair lives in a large estate dubbed “Fort Knox,” and their neighbours include Ellen DeGeneres and Oprah Winfrey.
