According to Usha Vance, husband JD Vance leads a “very lonely” life
In his brief tenure at the White House, JD Vance has evoked a wide range of feelings. The U.S. vice president has a lot on his mind, from his outburst at Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the Oval Office to his trip to Greenland. Up until now, Usha Vance, his wife, has remained out of the spotlight. The Second Lady shared some details about her new life in a recent interview. Additionally, Usha claims that her spouse is a part of a “lonely world.”
At Yale Law School, JD Vance met Usha Vance, who was formerly Chilukri and is now his wife. Usha, who was born in 1986, was raised in San Diego and hails from an educated Indian immigrant family. Her father, Krish, was a university lecturer and aeronautical engineer as she grew up.

Her mother, Lakshmi, was a molecular biology professor at the time. Initially merely friends, JD and Usha were part of the same social circle and reading club in college. But things progressed, and Usha became more than simply a best friend and girlfriend, according to Vance. At Yale, he has referred to her as his “spirit guide.”
In his 2016 memoir Hillbilly Elegy, JD stated, “She always encouraged me to seek opportunities that I didn’t know existed and she instinctively understood the questions I didn’t even know to ask.” He later stated in 2020: “I’m one of those guys who really benefits from having a strong female voice say, ‘Don’t do that, do that,’ over his left shoulder.” Charles Tyler, their Yale classmate, told the BBC that “they were always this match of very dissimilar people.” According to Vance’s autobiography, Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis, he “did at Yale” but had “never felt out of place” throughout his life.
“The day before JD was selected — I did not know he was going to be selected — I was working as a lawyer, and I had the wardrobe of a person with three children who likes to do things outdoors, who has a dog, who doesn’t like things to be too precious,” Usha told writer Peter Savodnik of The Free Press.
It can be a really lonely world not to share with anyone, so I’m not sure why he’s asking me for guidance so frequently,” she added. “We live a very peculiar life, and many people have simply made up stories about us, our thoughts, our actions, the reasons behind them, the amount of preparation required, and things like that.”
According to Buzzfeed, one person commented, “They weren’t wearing suits, so,” in reference to JD Vance’s remark to Volodymyr Zelenskyy regarding the lack of a suit in the Oval Office. Another wrote, “Did he say thank you to his friends?” in reference to the same event. “Spoiler alert: being an unlikable a**hole and condoning the behavior of madmen results in no friends,” said a third Reddit member, without holding back.
“Oh no, poor JD Vance,” another user said jokingly. “Making money off the same taxpayers he demonizes while attempting to deprive them of the benefits they have paid for and firing many Americans.” His children will attend his wealthy friends’ private, pricey schools, which they have been lobbying for taxpayers to pay for. But does JD Vance feel lonely? “Wow, how sad.” Do you think JD Vance does a good job? Please share this post on Facebook and let us know your thoughts!
