Before boarding the doomed Air India plane, a couple celebrated the end of their vacation with a video
Shortly before boarding the tragic flight, a British couple who perished in the Air India tragedy shared a final Instagram video together.
On Thursday, June 12, Meek’s brother Nick told the British newspaper The Times that Jamie Meek and his partner Fiongal Greenlaw-Meek were on flight AI171, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, which went down soon after taking off from Ahmedabad, India.

Around 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, the brother stated that he and other people were “expecting” Jamie, 44, and Fiongal, 39, to come home. He explained that the pair, who own The wellbeing Foundry, were going to India for a 10-day retreat focused on wellbeing. Nick claims that Jamie’s mother was keeping an eye on his dog while her son was away.
He clarified, “She is not in a good way.” Right now, it’s all extremely raw for her. We just learned of this news a few hours ago, so there is a lot to process. The couple made an appearance in one final Instagram video before the collision. The couple appeared to be getting ready to finish their trip in the footage, which was posted by several publications on X.
Fiongal stated in the video, “We are at the airport just boarding.” Then, before what Jamie implied would be a “10-hour flight back to England,” he remarked, “Goodbye India.”
In the video, Fiongal laughed and stated, “My biggest takeaway is to not lose your patience with your partner.” Jamie said, “You already snapped at me while eating chai at the airport! You haven’t learned anything, I see. Fiongal smiled as he remarked, “Going back happily, happily, happily calm,” at the end of the video.
According to Air India CEO Campbell Wilson, Jamie and Fiongal were among 53 British nationals on board the Boeing 787-8 when it crashed on Thursday. In a statement posted on X, Air India CEO Campbell Wilson stated that there were 230 passengers and 12 crew members on board at the time.
241 of the 242 passengers aboard the aircraft perished in the crash, according to an update from Air India. According to accounts, Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, a 40-year-old British man, is the only survivor.
According to Wilson’s testimony, there were 169 Indian, seven Portuguese, and one Canadian passengers on the aircraft in addition to the British. According to Wilson, Air India is “cooperating with the authorities on all emergency response activities.” He also mentioned that an assistance line had been established for friends and relatives affected by the collision.
Wilson remarked, “Today is a tough day for all of us at Air India, and we are now totally focused on the needs of our passengers, crew members, and their families and loved ones.” Wilson further stated that “anything we report must be accurate and not speculative” and pledged to “share accurate and timely information as soon as we can.”
