Following her mother’s 83rd death, Nicole Kidman departs the Venice Film Festival
Following her mother’s untimely death, Nicole Kidman was forced to skip the 81st Venice International Film Festival. The renowned actress reportedly received the coveted Volpi Cup for outstanding actress at the ceremony in recognition of her latest film, Babygirl.
But after acknowledging that Kidman had returned home upon hearing of her mother’s passing, the film’s director, Halina Reijn, collected the gong on her behalf.
Kidman said that she found out about her mother Janelle Ann Kidman’s passing not long after landing in Venice on that particular day, according to a statement that Reijn read aloud.
The statement said, “I have to go to my family because I’m in shock.” But she deserves this honour. She created, moulded, and directed me. The Australian celebrity continued, “My heart is broken,” to the audible gasps of the audience as Reijn delivered the remark.
USA Today reports that Kidman said in 2022 that her mother was having health problems and that she was in Australia to assist in taking care of her at the time.

Kidman clarified that her mother was “giving me the chance to view the world through an 81-year-old woman’s eyes” because of how close they are. The 57-year-old continued, “That is so beneficial right now because she’s so cognisant.” “Every cognitive function is available to her.
Thus, she doesn’t have any losses. She is incredibly intelligent and fascinatingly, she hasn’t lost any recollection. She is also very honest and straightforward. Both of Kidman’s parents came from Australia. 2014 saw the passing of her psychologist father.
The actress’s mother, who was 83 years old when she passed away, had frequently been seen on red carpets with her daughter. In the recently released film, Babygirl, Kidman portrays a chief executive who is having an extramarital affair with a young intern. At the international premiere of the film at the Venice Film Festival, the crowd gave it a standing ovation that lasted seven minutes.
After the screening, Kidman allegedly hugged Reijn, clearly moved by the supportive response. Nicole Kidman is in our thoughts and prayers during these awful times. Peace be with you, Kidman, Janelle Ann.
