We’ve all had those mornings where you wake up to a damp pillow and that slightly embarrassing realization that you were drooling in your sleep. It’s something most of us brush off as funny or harmless, but if it happens night after night, it can become pretty annoying. The good news is that excessive drooling while sleeping, also known as hypersalivation or sialorrhea, is usually manageable once you understand what’s causing it.

If your pillow often ends up with saliva stains, especially if you’re a side sleeper, it’s worth taking a closer look. There can be several reasons behind it, and figuring out the root cause is the first step toward drier nights and better sleep.

What Causes Drooling During Sleep?

You might be surprised to learn that our saliva production actually slows down while we sleep. So why does the drooling happen? A big part of it comes down to gravity and how our mouth and muscles relax.

Here are some of the most common culprits:

Sleeping Position Matters
People who sleep on their side or stomach tend to drool more than back sleepers. When your mouth falls open and gravity pulls saliva downward, it can easily leak out. Mouth breathing, which often goes hand in hand with certain positions, makes the problem worse because relaxed muscles let everything flow more freely.

Night Guards or Dental Devices
If you wear a night guard for teeth grinding, it can sometimes feel awkward and trigger more drooling, especially while your mouth adjusts to having something in it overnight.

Acid Reflux or GERD
Stomach acid that creeps up into your throat can irritate the area and lead to extra saliva as your body tries to protect itself.

Nasal Congestion or Sinus Issues
A stuffy nose from allergies, a cold, or sinus problems forces you to breathe through your mouth, which opens the door for drooling.

Tonsillitis or Throat Inflammation
Swollen tonsils or other inflammation can affect how you swallow and lead to saliva buildup.

Swallowing Difficulties
Conditions like dysphagia make it harder to swallow saliva naturally, even during the day, and this can carry over into sleep.

Medications
Certain drugs, including some antibiotics or sedatives, can increase saliva production or relax your mouth muscles as a side effect.

Neurological Conditions
Issues affecting the nerves, jaw, or facial muscles can play a role, as can allergic reactions that ramp up saliva.

Sleep Apnea
This serious condition often involves mouth breathing and interrupted sleep, which can contribute to heavy drooling. If you suspect apnea, it’s important to talk to a doctor.

Practical Ways to Stop Drooling While Sleeping

The best approach depends on what’s triggering the issue for you, but these steps help many people see real improvement:

Switch Up Your Sleeping Position
Training yourself to sleep on your back can make a huge difference. Gravity works in your favor here, keeping saliva in your mouth where it belongs. It might take some getting used to if you’re a dedicated side sleeper, but a supportive pillow or body pillow can help you stay in place.

Consider a Mandibular Advancement Device
These oral appliances look similar to night guards but are designed to keep your airway open, reduce snoring, and limit drooling.

CPAP Therapy for Sleep Apnea
If apnea is part of the picture, a CPAP machine can improve breathing and posture, which often cuts down on drooling too.

Botox Injections
Some people get temporary relief from Botox around the salivary glands or mouth area. It’s not a permanent fix, but it can buy time while you address other causes.

Surgery as a Last Resort
In cases involving neurological conditions, removing or rerouting salivary glands is sometimes an option, though doctors usually recommend trying gentler solutions first.

Dos and Don’ts for Managing Drooling

Do:
Stay well hydrated throughout the day.
Work on improving your overall sleep habits and posture.
Remember that drooling is common and nothing to feel ashamed about.
See a doctor or dentist if it’s really bothering you.

For babies and toddlers, drooling is completely normal as they grow, so there’s no need to worry.

Don’t:
Rely on alcohol or recreational drugs, which can make muscle control worse.
Start new medications without professional guidance.

Common Questions About Sleep Drooling

Is it normal to drool while sleeping?
Yes, a little is totally common and usually harmless, especially during deep sleep when your face muscles are relaxed and your mouth might open.

Why do I drool more on my side?
Gravity simply pulls the saliva out when you’re lying sideways. Back sleeping helps keep it inside.

Can drooling signal a bigger health issue?
It can sometimes point to nasal problems, reflux, allergies, or sleep apnea. If it’s sudden, heavy, or comes with other symptoms like snoring or trouble swallowing, get it checked.

Does it mean I’m in deep sleep?
Often yes. That full-body relaxation makes drooling more likely.

Can a blocked nose cause it?
Absolutely. Mouth breathing is a major contributor.

Do medicines play a role?
Some do, particularly ones that relax muscles or boost saliva.

How can I stop it?
Start with posture changes, treat any congestion, stay hydrated, and talk to a professional if needed.

Is it always too much saliva?
Not necessarily. It’s often just poor swallowing and mouth position during sleep.

When should I see a doctor?
If it’s severe, new, or paired with facial weakness, choking, or breathing issues.

Final Thoughts

Waking up with a wet pillow isn’t anything to feel weird about. For most people, it’s just part of deep sleep and relaxed muscles. Simple changes like adjusting your sleeping position or addressing allergies and congestion often solve it. If it keeps happening, a quick visit to your dentist or doctor can point you toward the right fix.

Share this with anyone who might be dealing with the same thing. Better sleep is worth it. Sweet dreams and drier pillows ahead!

I used to brush off little changes in my routine as no big deal, but digging into the connection between our poop and colon cancer opened my eyes.

Those subtle shifts in your stool, like unexpected blood or changes in how often you go, can sometimes be early red flags. Sure, plenty of other digestive issues cause similar things, but paying attention could make all the difference in catching something serious early.

What Early Changes in Your Bowel Movements Might Mean

One common early clue is when your bathroom habits suddenly feel different. Maybe your stools are thinner than usual, the color looks off, or you get that nagging sense that you haven’t fully emptied out. These might seem minor, but they deserve notice:

Narrow, pencil-thin stools can happen when a tumor starts narrowing the passageway.

Pain while going (called dyschezia) often links to rectal issues.

That constant feeling like you still need to go (tenesmus) can point to early rectal cancer.

Rectal bleeding shows up more with lower bowel tumors.

Abdominal pain might flare up from inflammation.

Ongoing fatigue could stem from anemia due to hidden blood loss.

How Symptoms Shift as Colon Cancer Progresses

By the time it reaches stage three and possibly spreads to nearby lymph nodes, the effects on your bowel movements often become more noticeable. The tumor digs deeper, leading to:

Constipation from partial blockages slowing everything down.

Diarrhea when fluids sneak around those blockages.

Alternating between the two, which is a pattern worth watching closely.

Blood in the stool, ranging from bright red to much darker tones depending on where the tumor sits.

Worsening tenesmus as inflammation builds.

Bloating and cramps because gas gets trapped.

Signs of iron deficiency anemia, which affects nearly half of people with colon cancer.

Scar tissue from the growing tumor can create strictures, raising the risk of partial or complete blockages. Even without visible blood, internal bleeding might still be going on.

Signs in Advanced Stages

In stage four, when the cancer has spread to distant organs, obstructions and bleeding tend to ramp up. Right-side tumors might turn your stool dark and tarry (melena) as blood travels farther through the system. You could also deal with:

Nausea and vomiting once blockages get bad.

Unexplained weight loss from chronic inflammation curbing your appetite.

The bowel wall can weaken and even perforate at this point. If it reaches the liver, lungs, or bones, other symptoms might appear too. Interestingly, some folks with advanced colon cancer have few bowel issues if there’s no major blockage or bleeding.

The bottom line is that learning about these poop changes and colon cancer connections matters because small shifts in your habits could be your body’s way of waving a flag. Persistent blood, narrower stools, diarrhea, or extra trips to the bathroom shouldn’t be ignored, especially if they stick around. That said, lots of common gut problems can look the same, so it’s smart not to panic but to check in with a doctor. Catching colon cancer early makes it so much more treatable.

If something feels off, reach out to a healthcare professional sooner rather than later. Your health is worth it.

Colon cancer remains one of the most common and serious cancers around today. The good news is that it often sends out early signals that can help catch it before things get worse. It doesn’t just affect older folks anymore. Even people in their twenties are getting diagnosed more often than we’d like to think.

While doctors still don’t know exactly what causes it in every case, it usually starts with changes in the cells lining the colon. The tricky part is that many people notice something feels off but brush it aside, assuming it’s just a minor issue like something they ate or stress. That’s understandable, but paying attention can truly make the difference.

Certain things can raise your chances of developing colon cancer, like carrying extra weight, smoking, a family history of cancer, a poor diet, certain genetic conditions, drinking too much alcohol, ongoing digestive troubles, or diabetes.

It’s the third most common cancer in both men and women, which is why knowing the signs matters so much. Early detection often leads to much better outcomes.

Rectal bleeding is one of the most talked about red flags, but there are plenty of others worth watching for. If anything on this list sounds familiar and sticks around, it’s smart to see a doctor and get checked out properly.

Here are some key warning signs to keep in mind:

1. Persistent Constipation
A lot of us deal with occasional constipation when our diet lacks fiber or we aren’t drinking enough water. But when it becomes chronic and lasts for weeks, it could point to something more serious. A tumor toward the end of the colon can make it harder for stool to pass, almost like there’s a blockage. If you feel obstructed or things just aren’t moving normally, don’t wait it out.

2. Rectal Bleeding
Seeing blood in your stool or on toilet paper can be alarming, and for good reason. It might appear bright red or a darker maroon color. This happens in more than half of colon cancer cases. Even if it seems minor, it’s important to get it investigated to rule out serious causes.

3. Ongoing Diarrhea
Frequent loose stools that don’t let up can also signal trouble. Studies show about one in five people with colon cancer deal with diarrhea. A tumor can disrupt normal bowel function, leading to changes in habits along with other symptoms like pain, nausea, or vomiting. If it drags on for weeks, talk to your doctor.

4. Narrow Stools
If your stools suddenly become much thinner than usual, pay attention. This change in shape often happens because a tumor is narrowing the passage in the colon, forcing stool through a tighter space.

5. Nausea and Vomiting
Constant nausea or vomiting without a clear reason, like food poisoning or a stomach bug, shouldn’t be ignored. It can linger and feel unrelated to anything obvious. When it persists, it’s worth getting checked rather than hoping it will pass on its own.

6. Abdominal Pain or Discomfort
We all get occasional belly aches, but regular pain, especially paired with nausea or vomiting, is different. You might also notice tenderness in the lower abdomen when you press on it. Persistent cramping or discomfort deserves a closer look.

7. Anemia
Colon tumors can bleed slowly inside the digestive tract, leading to lower hemoglobin levels and iron-deficiency anemia. This often shows up as constant tiredness, pale skin, weakness, cold hands or feet, and shortness of breath. Routine blood work can catch this early, especially if other symptoms are present.

8. Fatigue and Weakness
Feeling wiped out even when you’ve barely done anything, or getting winded easily, can stem from anemia caused by the cancer. Some people also notice unexplained weight loss despite eating normally. It’s your body’s way of waving a flag.

9. Bloating and Excess Gas
Constant cramping, bloating, or feeling gassy might seem like everyday digestive woes. But when it doesn’t go away, a tumor could be interfering with normal gas and waste elimination. Long-term issues here are worth discussing with a professional.

10. Feeling Like You Still Need to Go
Even after using the bathroom, you might have that unrelieved urge, like you didn’t fully empty. As tumors grow, they can block normal passage and create that incomplete feeling repeatedly. If this becomes a pattern, it’s time to get it checked.

These symptoms can sneak up gradually, and it’s easy to convince yourself they’re normal. But ignoring them for too long can have serious consequences. If they’ve been hanging around, especially if you have a family history of colon cancer, reach out to your doctor.

Screening is recommended starting around age 50 for most people, and earlier if you have higher risk factors. The symptoms vary depending on the tumor’s size and location, but they almost always involve some shift in bowel habits.

Catching colon cancer early opens up the best treatment possibilities and greatly improves the chances of beating it. Listen to your body. It’s better to check things out and be safe than to wish you had later on. If you’re concerned, schedule that appointment. Your health is worth it.

The White House has finally put out the results of Donald Trump’s latest physical checkup, and it’s come at a time when people have been asking a lot of questions about how he’s holding up.

According to the summary from Captain Sean Barbabella at Walter Reed, the president is still in excellent health overall. His heart, lungs, brain function, and general fitness all checked out well. The report notes that with his busy days full of meetings, speeches, and staying active, he’s managing just fine and is completely up to the job.

Trump had gone in for the exam earlier in the week, and when the results took a bit longer than usual to come out, it only added to the chatter about whether something might be off. But right after, he was back at the White House and posted that everything looked perfect.

President Donald Trump is captured departing the White House Tuesday morning to travel to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center for his annual physical

President Donald Trump’s motorcade is seen driving to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland on Tuesday morning

The report did mention that Trump has put on about 17 pounds since his last checkup. Doctors gave him the usual advice about watching his diet, staying active, and keeping up with some other healthy habits.

This all comes as he gets closer to turning 80 and as some of those visible things like the bruises on his hands keep showing up.

President Donald Trump has been subject to bruising, which doctors blame on his aspirin regimen and shaking hands too vigorously and had a visible rash on his neck in March, which was caused by a medicated cream used for a preventive skin treatment

In July they had explained the swelling in his ankles as chronic venous insufficiency.

It is hard not to compare this moment with everything that went on with Joe Biden’s health questions during his time in office. People are still talking about how his team handled things, especially after that tough debate and later health updates. Now the spotlight has shifted a bit toward Trump as he serves in his second term as the oldest president on record.

President Donald Trump is seen in the back of the Beast as he traveled to Walter Reed Tuesday for his physical

White House photo

The White House has pushed back on some of the concerns, saying the hand bruising comes from all the handshakes combined with his daily aspirin. They have also said he is just a very engaged listener when he seems to doze off in meetings. Trump himself has talked up his strong results on cognitive tests and shared stories about acing them.

Polls show that more Americans are starting to wonder about both his mental and physical sharpness compared to last year. Still, supporters point to his energy and point to comments from people like Dr. Oz who have highlighted positive aspects of his health records.

In the end, there is no legal requirement for presidents to share every detail of their health. What gets released usually puts things in the best light possible. This latest report seems aimed at calming things down, but the questions about age and fitness are likely to keep coming as this term goes on.

Waking up with a dry mouth can be really uncomfortable. It leaves you feeling thirsty, with that sticky feeling and sometimes even bad breath or a sore throat. A lot of us brush it off as no big deal, but if it keeps happening, your body might be trying to send you a signal.

Nighttime dry mouth, or what doctors call xerostomia, affects tons of people. Sure, it can happen once in a while from dry weather or not drinking enough water, but when it becomes regular, it can mess with your sleep, your teeth, and how you feel overall.

Here are the eight most common reasons why your mouth might feel so dry while you sleep, plus some easy things you can try to make it better.

What actually causes dry mouth at night?

It happens when your salivary glands arent making enough saliva. Saliva is super important. It keeps your mouth comfortable, fights off bacteria, protects your teeth, helps with digestion, and even cuts down on bad breath. When that flow slows down during sleep, everything feels parched by morning.

1. Sleeping with your mouth open

This is probably one of the top culprits. When you breathe through your mouth all night, the air just dries everything out fast.

You might notice dry lips, a scratchy throat, snoring, or that awful morning breath.

It often comes from a stuffy nose, allergies, a deviated septum, or how you position yourself in bed.

Try sleeping on your side instead, use nasal strips, keep your room air clean, and deal with any allergies properly. These small changes can make a real difference.

2. Not drinking enough water

Dehydration is simple but sneaky. If you dont stay hydrated during the day, your body doesnt have what it needs to keep saliva flowing at night.

Look out for dark urine, dry skin, tiredness, headaches, or constant thirst.

The fix is straightforward. Drink plenty of water throughout the day, cut back on too much caffeine, and go easy on alcohol before bed. A well hydrated body usually handles nighttime better.

3. Snoring or sleep apnea

Heavy snorers or people with sleep apnea often wake up with really dry mouths. These conditions make you breathe through your mouth more because breathing gets interrupted.

Other clues include loud snoring, gasping at night, feeling wiped out during the day, morning headaches, and dry mouth every single morning.

Managing your weight, sleeping on your side, or getting checked by a doctor can help. Sometimes CPAP therapy makes a huge improvement if its needed.

4. Side effects from medications

A surprising number of everyday medicines can dry out your mouth.

Things like allergy pills, antidepressants, blood pressure drugs, painkillers, and even cold medicines are common offenders.

If this sounds like you, dont just stop your medication on your own. Talk to your doctor about adjusting the dose or other options. In the meantime, drink more water, chew sugar free gum, or ask about saliva substitutes.

5. Dry air in your bedroom

Air conditioners, heaters, and fans running all night can suck the moisture right out of the room and your mouth.

This gets worse in winter or in heavily air conditioned spaces.

A humidifier works wonders here. Keep a glass of water by the bed and avoid pointing fans straight at your face. Getting the humidity right can really help you wake up more comfortable.

6. Smoking or using tobacco

Tobacco irritates the mouth and cuts down on saliva production.

Smokers often deal with dry mouth, bad breath, a bitter taste, and throat discomfort in the morning. It also raises the chances of gum problems and infections.

Cutting back or quitting can improve things a lot, both for your mouth and your overall health.

7. Diabetes

High blood sugar can lead to more fluid loss, which shows up as dry mouth.

If you also feel extra thirsty, need to pee often, or feel tired a lot, it might be worth getting checked.

Dont wait if these signs keep showing up together. A simple test can give you clarity.

8. Stress and anxiety

When your mind is racing, it affects your whole system, including saliva production.

Stress can make you breathe through your mouth more, grind your teeth, or sleep poorly, all of which worsen dryness.

Winding down before bed, cutting screen time, trying deep breathing, or sticking to a better sleep routine can calm things down and help your mouth stay moist.

When should you worry?

A dry mouth now and then is usually fine, but if its every night, talk to a doctor. Watch for trouble swallowing, mouth sores, cracked tongue, ongoing bad breath, or tooth issues. These could point to something that needs attention.

Simple things that often help

Drink more water during the day.
Use a humidifier at night.
Skip alcohol close to bedtime.
Go easy on caffeine.
Chew sugar free gum to get saliva going.
Clear up nasal congestion.
Keep up with brushing and flossing.

Dry mouth at night might seem minor, but it can point to bigger things like dehydration, breathing issues, stress, or health conditions. The great part is that many of these can be fixed with small daily habits.

If it keeps bothering you, dont brush it off. Taking care of it early can protect your sleep and your health in the long run.

Theres no doubt that bananas are one of the most popular fruits around the world. Theyre affordable easy to carry

Theres no doubt that bananas are one of the most popular fruits around the world. Theyre affordable easy to carry and eat on the go and full of nutrients that support your body in many ways.

Even with how common they are bananas often spark debate in health circles. Some people see them as ideal fuel for athletes while others worry they might not be the best choice. So what does the science actually say? Lets take a closer look at the real benefits of bananas and clear up some of those persistent myths that float around online.

When you peel back that yellow skin youre getting more than just sweetness. A medium banana offers a great balance of essential vitamins and minerals.

You get plenty of potassium an important electrolyte along with vitamin B6 which supports brain development and helps your nervous and immune systems. Theres also vitamin C for skin health and immunity magnesium for all those biochemical reactions in your body and fiber that aids digestion and keeps you satisfied.

Healthline notes that one banana comes in at about 100 to 110 calories with lots of fiber no fat and hardly any protein. This makes the natural carbohydrates in bananas feel like a clean energy source.

One of the strongest benefits backed by research is how bananas support heart health mainly because of their potassium. This mineral plays a big role in keeping your heart beating properly.

It helps your body flush out excess sodium through urine and relaxes blood vessel walls. Potassium also maintains fluid balance around your cells and supports normal muscle and nerve function including heart contractions.

Studies from the Cleveland Clinic link diets rich in potassium to lower blood pressure and a decreased risk of stroke. Since many of us get too much sodium and not enough potassium adding a banana daily can be a simple positive step.

Bananas are often recommended when you have an upset stomach as part of the BRAT diet but they offer more digestive benefits than that.

The fiber in bananas comes in two useful forms. Soluble fiber forms a gel in your system that slows digestion so you absorb nutrients better. Then there is resistant starch especially in greener bananas that acts as a prebiotic feeding good bacteria in your gut.

This process produces short chain fatty acids like butyrate which help reduce inflammation strengthen the gut lining and improve how well you absorb nutrients. The result can mean less bloating and constipation for many people.

Youve probably seen athletes munching on bananas during matches or races. Theres a good reason for that. Bananas earn their reputation as natures original energy bar thanks to their mix of natural sugars like glucose fructose and sucrose combined with fiber.

Unlike candy bars that cause a quick sugar spike and crash bananas provide steadier energy because the fiber helps slow things down.

The sweetness in bananas makes some people especially those watching blood sugar or trying to lose weight hesitant to eat them. But the glycemic index of bananas is actually low to medium depending on how ripe they are ranging from about 42 to 62.

The fiber and resistant starch help prevent sharp blood sugar spikes. Green bananas tend to have a lower index than very ripe ones. For most healthy people theyre fine and even people with diabetes can enjoy them in moderation paired with protein or fat.

Contrary to what some believe bananas arent likely to make you gain weight. In fact the fiber helps you feel full longer which can prevent overeating on higher calorie foods.

That fullness comes because fiber adds bulk in your stomach and slows down how quickly it empties. Swapping a 300 calorie processed snack for a 100 calorie banana gives you nutrients and better satiety.

While we often think of berries for antioxidants bananas actually contain quite a few including flavonoids dopamine and catechins. These compounds help fight free radicals that contribute to oxidative stress aging and certain diseases.

The vitamin C in bananas also boosts your immune system making you more resistant to infections.

Bananas can also play a role in kidney health. Research has found that women who eat bananas a couple of times a week had a lower risk of kidney disease over a long period.

By helping control blood pressure which is a major factor in kidney problems bananas offer some protection. Of course if you already have serious kidney issues and are on a low potassium diet check with your doctor first.

Debunking the Common Banana Myths

These days myths spread fast on social media so lets set the record straight on a few big ones about bananas.

First theres the idea that bananas have too much sugar. The natural sugars in fruit come packaged with fiber vitamins and minerals so your body handles them much differently than added sugars in sodas or candy. The whole fruit provides more nutritional value than any downside from the sugar.

Another myth claims bananas are the absolute best source of potassium. While theyre good avocados spinach and sweet potatoes actually have more. What makes bananas stand out is how easy and accessible they are.

Then theres the fun one about bananas being radioactive. Its true they contain a small amount of Potassium40 but the levels are tiny. You would need to eat something like ten million bananas at once to reach dangerous radiation levels. No need to worry.

Finally some people say blending bananas in smoothies destroys nutrients especially when mixed with berries. There might be some lab reaction with an enzyme in bananas but in real life smoothies still deliver plenty of fiber and beneficial compounds. Your body is pretty good at getting what it needs so mixing bananas and berries is usually just fine.

Are There Any Downsides to Eating Bananas?

Bananas are great in many ways but like anything eating too many could cause issues. If youre having five or six a day you might experience bloating from all that fiber or in very rare cases problems from too much potassium. The natural sugars and starch could also affect dental health if overdone.

Sticking to one or two bananas per day is usually the sweet spot for most people.

In the end bananas are one of the simplest and most effective ways to boost your nutrition. Theyre budget friendly versatile and backed by real science for energy heart health digestion and more.

You can grab one for a quick workout boost mix it into breakfast or keep it handy for whenever you need a lift. Good nutrition doesnt have to be complicated or expensive. Sometimes the easiest choices like a banana are the most powerful. Just remember moderation is key and dont let the myths stop you from enjoying them.

The heartbreaking story of little Elora “Ellie” Ann Rudd, a bright and joyful 4-year-old from Ogden, Utah, has touched so many hearts. Ellie, who absolutely adored the movie Frozen, the color pink, Sour Patch Kids, and especially her three siblings—big sister Mary Jane, little brother Kyler, and baby sister Danielle—passed away on January 6, 2026, after a fierce but ultimately losing battle with the flu.

It all started around the holidays when the flu swept through the whole family. At first, Ellie seemed to be handling it okay, just like her siblings and parents, Sarah and Michael. But then a bad cough set in, and her mom rushed her to McKay-Dee Hospital.

Gofundme

There, doctors found she had the flu along with adenovirus. Things escalated quickly—she developed pneumonia, sepsis, and even internal bleeding. She was sedated, hooked up to heavy antibiotics and blood thinners, and later transferred to Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, where she fought so hard from January 2 onward.

Her mom Sarah shared the devastating news on Facebook: “It’s with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of my wonderful Ellie. She battled so long and so hard. She left this mortal realm around 1:50. We love you and we will miss you.”

Credit: GoFundMe

In her final moments, the hospital staff kindly gave her a beautiful blue princess gown—perfect for a little girl who loved dressing up and dancing—and she was cradled gently in her parents’ arms as she passed. It was peaceful in the end, though the pain for her family is unimaginable. Doctors explained that blood clots in her heart and reduced blood flow to her brain were just too much, even after everything they tried.

Ellie’s online obituary paints such a vivid picture of who she was: a girl who sang along to “You Are My Sunshine,” threw dance parties with her siblings, and brought so much light to everyone around her.

Gofundme

Her aunt Ranae set up a GoFundMe to help with the crushing medical bills and funeral costs, and the community has responded with incredible kindness—raising over $21,000 so far. “We love and miss our sweet Ellie more than words can describe,” the family wrote. “Thank you for helping keep her memory alive.”

This story is a painful reminder of how quickly things can change, even with something as common as the flu. Hug your little ones extra tight tonight. Ellie’s light will live on through all the love she left behind.

A recent buzz has been going around claiming that President Donald Trump might have suffered a stroke sometime last year

A recent buzz has been going around claiming that President Donald Trump might have suffered a stroke sometime last year (in 2025), and that the White House has been keeping it under wraps.

This comes from Professor Bruce Davidson, who’s a medical expert at Washington State University’s Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine. He shared his thoughts on the podcast The Court of History, hosted by biographer Sidney Blumenthal and historian Sean Wilentz.

JOINT BASE ANDREWS, MARYLAND – JANUARY 13: U.S. President Donald Trump walks down the air stairs after landing on Air Force One on January 13, 2026 at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland.
According to Davidson, he thinks the stroke happened on the left side of Trump’s brain, which would affect the right side of the body. He estimates it was about six months ago or earlier in 2025.

He pointed out a few things he’s noticed in videos and public appearances:

Trump shuffling his feet in some clips, which looks different from his usual confident stride (especially on the golf course).

Holding his right hand cradled in his left at times.

Earlier in 2025, some instances of garbled speech that seemed new, though it improved later.

Moments of excessive daytime sleepiness — like appearing to nod off during events — which he says is pretty common after strokes.

Here’s a photo of the president walking down the stairs from Air Force One recently, where Davidson highlighted how Trump gripped the banister with his left hand (even though he’s right-handed), calling it consistent with possible weakness on the right side.

Another image that’s been discussed shows a visible bruise on the back of Trump’s right hand during a meeting.

WASHINGTON, DC – AUGUST 25: A bruise is visible on the back of U.S. President Donald Trump’s right hand during a meeting with South Korean President Lee Jae-myung in the Oval Office at the White House on August 25, 2025 in Washington, DC. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt was asked about the bruising in February and she responded, “President Trump has bruises on his hand because he’s constantly working and shaking hands all day every day.” (Photo by Chip Somodevilla/Getty Images)

Davidson also suggested that if this is true, Trump seems to have made a pretty significant recovery, as some of the early signs have gotten better. He even speculated that the aggressive, unpredictable style in his second term could tie into how some people react after a serious health scare like that — like seizing the moment because “the next one might be fatal.”

Of course, there’s no official confirmation from Trump himself or any medical records to back this up — it’s all based on public observations from someone who’s not his doctor.

The White House pushed back hard. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told outlets like the Daily Beast that President Trump’s physician, Dr. Sean Barbabella, has repeatedly said he’s in excellent overall health. She called these kinds of stories fake and desperate, comparing them to how the media handled Biden’s health issues in the past, and said it’s why trust in the media is at an all-time low.

There have been ongoing questions about Trump’s health lately anyway — from those bruises (which the White House says come from constant handshakes), to his diet (RFK Jr. even joked on a podcast that Trump’s love of McDonald’s, candy, and Diet Coke is amazing, and he has the constitution of a deity), plus that face droop some people noticed at a 9/11 anniversary event.

Bottom line? Without solid proof or an announcement from the president, it’s all speculation for now. These claims are out there, but the official line is that Trump is sharp and energetic as ever.

What do you think — is there something to it, or just more noise?

I’ve always had this random childhood memory of staring at a funny little scar on my mom’s upper arm. It

I’ve always had this random childhood memory of staring at a funny little scar on my mom’s upper arm. It was this round dent with tiny marks around it, kind of like a mini crater. I have no idea why it stuck with me back then—kids notice the weirdest things—but over the years, it just faded into the background.

That all changed a couple of summers ago when I was helping an older lady step off a crowded train. As I grabbed her bag, I glanced down and saw the exact same mark on her arm, right in the same spot. The train was pulling away, so I couldn’t exactly stop and chat about it, but curiosity hit me hard. I ended up calling my mom that evening, and she laughed, saying she’d told me ages ago: it was from her smallpox vaccine.

Shutterstock

Smallpox was a brutal disease—highly contagious, with fever and a nasty rash that could kill around 30% of people who caught it in the worst 20th-century outbreaks (that’s straight from the CDC). Survivors often ended up with permanent scarring on their faces or bodies. But the vaccine changed everything. It was so effective that smallpox was declared eradicated in the U.S. by 1952, and routine shots stopped in 1972. Pretty much anyone born before then got it as a kid, and that shot left a telltale scar—almost like proof you’d been protected.

So why did it leave such a noticeable mark? Modern vaccines are usually a quick single poke, but the smallpox one was different. They used this clever little bifurcated needle—basically a forked tool with two prongs.

Shutterstock

The nurse or doctor would dip it in the vaccine (which contained a live but weakened virus) and prick the skin about 15 times in a small circle on your upper arm. That introduced the virus right into the dermis layer. Your immune system kicked in, creating a pustule that turned into a blister, then a scab, and finally that classic indented scar once it healed.

It’s wild to think how something so simple helped wipe out an entire disease. If you’re from that generation, do you still spot that scar when you look in the mirror? I’d love to hear your stories!

President Trump recently claimed during a Hanukkah reception at the White House that his former doctor told him he’s in

President Trump recently claimed during a Hanukkah reception at the White House that his former doctor told him he’s in much better shape than Barack Obama or Joe Biden ever were.

It happened on December 16, 2025, right after he spoke about the tragic mass shooting in Sydney’s Bondi Beach that took 15 lives a couple of days earlier. While introducing Rep. Ronny Jackson — the guy who was his White House physician — Trump shared this anecdote.

Anna Moneymaker/Getty; KAMIL KRZACZYNSKI/AFP via Getty Images

Apparently, Jackson, who also served under Obama and briefly under Bush, was asked point-blank who was the healthiest out of the three presidents: Obama, Biden, or Trump. And according to Trump, Jackson didn’t hesitate: “Trump was by far the healthiest.”

Trump, who’s now 79, joked that if Jackson hadn’t said that, he “would never have talked to him again.” He called Jackson a “great legend.”

For context, Jackson was the doctor during Trump’s first term and part of Obama’s second. He left to run for Congress in 2021 and has been a Republican rep from Texas since. Biden had a different physician, though.

No one’s heard back yet from Obama’s team or Jackson himself on this specific story.

Jackson has made similar comments before — back in August 2025, he told The Daily Beast that Trump is “the healthiest president this nation has ever seen.” Trump has referenced stuff like this at events too.

SAUL LOEB/AFP via Getty Images

On the health front, Trump’s latest checks in October 2025 showed everything normal on his MRIs, according to his current doctor. He did get diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency earlier in the year, but overall, he’s the oldest person elected president and will soon be older in office than Biden was.

Jackson’s had his share of controversies over the years, including a Navy demotion in 2022 that got reversed just this past September.

Anyway, it’s classic Trump — throwing in a bit of bragging during a holiday event.
