Here’s all you need to know about Jay Leno

Jay Leno is an American TV host who earned himself the king of talk shows and when he finally decided to step down in 2014 to focus on his wife mavis and having a peaceful life, it caused a media frenzy.

The couple has remained strong over the years as they got married in the 1980s and it seems weird to people that even though they have remained strong in love they choose not to have children.

Leno after retiring from the entertainment industry has been taking life easy as he has a great interest in cars and motorcycles.

The kind of talk shows, Jay Leno was born in New Rochelle, New York on 28 April 1950. His mother, Cathryn was a homemaker while his father, Angelo, worked as a salesman.

Jay during his early life always wanted to follow his father’s footsteps as a salesman and it all changed after he was tagged the funniest in school as he always has his way of cracking people up.

He loved playing pranks on people and acting all cranky and even in his reports, his teachers always pointed out this. “If Jay spent as much time studying as he does try to be a comedian, he’d be a big star,” Leno recalled.

His teacher was never wrong at all, as he turned out to be a huge star in the industry. “I had wonderful teachers, I would not be in show business without them,” Leno recalled. “I remember Mrs. Hawke, my English teacher, who said to me, ‘You know, you’re always telling jokes in the hall, why don’t you write some of those stories down and maybe you can tell them to the class?’ It would have never occurred to me to do that because that just seemed like homework.

And for the first time in my life, homework was enjoyable. “I’d write something down, and then cross it out, saying now that doesn’t sound right and then write it again,” he added. “And then she’d have me stand up in front of the class and have me read these stories and I realize now that they weren’t very good, but at the time I got a few laughs and she said, ‘Maybe you could be a comedy writer or something like that.’

“It was an eye-opener. It was something I’ve always been grateful for.” Leno pursued a career as a comedian and it didn’t take long before he started landing gigs in the industry and that’s how his success journey started.

Leno met the love of his life while still working and the duo has remained together for over 40 years and they have a strong reason why they don’t have kids.

Mavis revealed in a talk show that she takes full credit for why they don’t have kids and says it’s fear of being trapped. “I would see a young woman who was very attractive and a thousand times smarter, and she’s living in this little tenement hovel with her husband, Ralph, and then this Ed Norton, who has an even hotter wife,” Mavis explained.

At a younger age, she can remember saying she doesn’t want to get married, but when she met the love of her life it all changed. They have remained steadfast and strong over the years and we all wish their union the best.
