JD Vance’s remark on “wife’s children” provokes criticism
In his brief time in Washington, JD Vance has provoked a wide range of responses. In June 2021, the former venture investor and novelist declared his intention to run for the Senate, entering politics. A little less than four years later, the father of three is employed as the US Vice President in the White House. In 2021, JD Vance made one of his more contentious remarks.
He claimed the Democrats and “a bunch of childless cat ladies” were in charge of the US in an interview with Tucker Carlson of Fox. There was a lot of uproar surrounding Vance’s remark that people weren’t focused on starting a family. Then, another of his comments on his children—or, JD claims, his wife’s children—made news last year.

Vance seems to have been meant for a career in politics, as evidenced by his brief but extremely successful political career thus far. Vance secured the “holy grail” of jobs as a media relations officer in the Marine Corps public affairs section in Cherry Point, North Carolina, after returning from his Marine mission in Iraq. With Vance, they created an exception to the rule that the position was only for senior Marines.
“I learnt an important lesson from the experience: I could succeed. If I had to, I could work 20-hour days. With the TV cameras pressed up against me, I could spoke clearly and boldly. I could hold my own in a room full of generals, colonels, and majors. Even when I thought I couldn’t, I could perform the duties of a captain,” Vance said in his autobiography.
He honed his abilities, and his efforts were recognised. Veteran of the Marine Corps Curt Keester, who served alongside Vance at Cherry Point, remembered going to New York City for Fleet Week with his then-colleague. Media outlets came up to them while they were waiting for the wreath-laying ritual.
“While we were waiting, a radio journalist and broadcaster approached us and began questioning us, asking, ‘What are your thoughts?'” Speaking to CNN, as reported by AOL, Keester said, “I gave what I considered to be a terrible answer.” When he asked JD the same question, he immediately came up with this brilliant quote that reminded me of Winston Churchill. It was then that I realised how well-suited he was for public affairs. He had a natural talent.
During these initial months, Trump and Vance have been quite busy at the White House. Their strong stance on tariffs and the conflict in Ukraine isn’t the only thing that has made headlines.

Similar to his boss, Vance has garnered media attention for a number of remarks he made at a press conference. The vice president’s remarks in an interview with The New York Times last year caused a lot of anger on the internet a short while ago.
In an article that appeared on October 12, Vance was questioned about whether his wife, Usha, had changed her religion from Hinduism to Catholicism. In response, Vance said that although she hadn’t, the family still went to church together. The internet was more interested in his description of his wife than in that fact alone.
She has three children. Naturally, I assist with the children, but she feels more of an obligation to keep the children quiet in church since I’m the one who attends. And I simply felt guilty.
For example, “Oh, you didn’t sign up to marry a churchgoer every week.” Do you think this is acceptable? Vance told the New York Times, “And she was more than okay with it, and that was a big part of the confirmation that this was the right thing for me.”
Following JD Vance’s remark, a lot of people expressed their opinions online, and not all of them were favourable. Some even found it unsettling. JD Vance has made numerous references to his wife’s children throughout this campaign, implying that she is responsible for their upbringing.
According to the Huffington Post, one user said, “If elected, he will attempt to impose this patriarchal and outdated parenting model on America.” “Never in my life have I heard a father call his children my wife’s children. That’s crazy,” someone else commented. “she has three kids???” a third person added. Does she have three children? VANCE, DID SHE MIRACLE THEM ALONE?
“He has repeatedly called his children “her kids,” which is really strange and a warning sign,” said a fourth. How do you feel about JD Vance’s remark? Was it merely a misinterpretation of the words, or did it merit criticism? Please let us know what you think by sharing this post on Facebook!
