Kamala Harris Announces Her Intention to Enter the Trump Debate

The team of Vice President Kamala Harris is sure that former President Donald Trump is backtracking from his September debate vow. Trump had first consented to participate in two debates with President Joe Biden, one scheduled for June on CNN and the other for September 10 on ABC. Regardless of Biden’s standing in the campaign, the September debate was set to happen.

The campaign’s communications director, Michael Tyler, reaffirmed that Harris—regardless of Trump’s attendance—will be the presumed Democratic nominee at the debate on September 10.

Tyler stated, “As Vice President Harris stated last week, she will give the American people a chance to hear from both of the candidates vying for the nation’s top job at the ABC debate in September. “We’ll see if Trump shows up, but Vice President Harris will be there on September 10th.”

Trump hinted that he would not attend the ABC event even though he declared he would “absolutely” debate Harris. Later, his team declared that they would not consent to a debate with Harris in the general election until the Democrats had made their formal nominee selection.

A virtual vote for the nomination is set for August 1st, ahead of the Democratic National Convention, which will take place in Chicago from August 19–22. Harris is said to have obtained sufficient delegates for the nomination.

Senior advisor to Trump’s campaign Jason Miller said that the former president will debate the Democratic nominee, but he also underlined that the Democrats must choose a candidate before scheduling the debates. In order to guarantee a more thorough conversation, he also stated his opinion that Harris should participate in numerous debates during the general election.

Fox News invited the campaigns of Trump and Harris to participate in a discussion on their network following President Joe Biden’s resignation from the debate and endorsement of his vice president.

Fox News’ letter proposed holding the discussion in Pennsylvania on Tuesday, September 17, coinciding with the start of early voting in many crucial battleground states. The network said it was willing to talk about the debate’s schedule, structure, and venue.

Trump addressed the debates on his Truth Social platform, but neither campaign has yet to reply to the invitation. He contended that Fox News, as opposed to ABC, which he claimed was biassed, should host the debate now that Joe Biden had dropped out of the race.
