Kate Middleton was ‘furious’ with Queen Camilla because she refused to curtsy at the coronation, according to a royal expert
Most people who watched the coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla thought it was a wonderful success. The event at Westminster Abbey was attended by all senior members of the Royal Family, including Prince Harry, who flew in to see his father’s coronation.
Prince William and Kate Middleton also had all three of their children there for the occasion, with Prince Louis being deemed old enough for the first time to attend a major royal function.
Interestingly, William and Kate’s late arrival at Westminster Abbey seemed to irritate King Charles. The rehearsals for the ceremony had gone through without a hitch, and the margin for error in timing was close to zero.
The guests, including the royals, were to bow to Charles and Camilla as they made their way towards the entrance and their awaiting carriage at the end of the ceremony. However, according to royal historian Tom Bower, Kate had other intentions and declined to curtsy. In fact, it’s now being claimed that she was more than satisfied with Camilla’s actions.
Following a period of great stress, King Charles and Queen Camilla have returned to work. The royal couple got some well-deserved time off after their historic coronation weekend. Prince William and Kate Middleton, on the other hand, have decided to continue with their royal responsibilities.
Kate Middleton has grown in popularity among royal enthusiasts since her arrival on the scene. She appears to be assuming a larger role with each passing year, and many believe she will make an excellent queen one day.
However, despite her popularity, Kate has apparently had significant schisms with other members of the Royal Family. According to an analyst, Kate’s ire has not just been directed at the out-of-favor Meghan Markle, but also at Queen Camilla.
Despite rumours about his possible involvement, Prince Harry attended his father’s coronation ceremony. According to reports, he fled for the United States immediately after his father and stepmother left Westminster Abbey. Meanwhile, Meghan stayed in the United States with the couple’s children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. But, one could think, was she only staying behind because it was the easiest thing for the Sussex family?
According to royal researcher and author Tom Bower, Kate Middleton was involved in the decision and did not “under any circumstances” want Meghan to attend.
“I think we must all be grateful that Kate, in the end, I think, prevented Meghan from coming and said she wouldn’t have her there under any circumstances,” Bower said on GB News, according to Express.
Furthermore, according to the expert, Kate warned Meghan that if she attended, she would have to “sit in the back.”
Meanwhile, a royal source informed Page Six that Meghan opted not to attend the coronation because she thought it would be “inauthentic.”
“They had to make a decision that felt genuine and authentic, especially after everything that has been said and all that has happened,” a family insider said.
The coronation event drew a large number of notable attendees. Members of foreign royal houses, heads of state, and foreign ministers from all around the world. On the big day, various celebs were spotted sitting in Westminster Abbey. Royal fans were also treated to a peek of a few people they rarely see: Queen Camilla’s family.
Camilla was surrounded by a huge number of family members. Andrew Parker Bowles, her ex-husband, was present, as were their two children, Tom Parker Bowles and Laura Lopes, as well as several of their grandkids.
Camilla has five grandchildren. Tom and his ex-wife have two children: Lola Parker Bowles and Freddy Parker Bowles. Laura and her husband, Harry, have two children: Eliza, a female, and twin sons,
Camilla’s grandchildren all served as Pages of Honour. Camilla’s nieces, Alice Irwin, Katie Elliot, Ayesha Shand, and nephew Ben Elliot, as well as the queen’s sister, Annabel Elliot, and a friend, the Marchioness of Lansdowne, attended the coronation ceremony.
According to ABC royal reporter Victoria Murphy, Camilla’s family took a new step with the coronation.
“Camilla’s family is very much front and centre at this event, which is interesting because this is a state event, and they are usually completely private,” she explained.
“I think Camilla’s family’s involvement and visibility sends a message about how important she is to Charles’ reign and very much reminds us that this is their Coronation, not just his.”
Kate Middleton, on the other hand, was joined at Westminster Abbey by only four family members: sister Pippa Middleton, brother James Middleton, and parents Carole and Michael Middleton.
Camilla’s presence in Westminster Abbey with so many family members does not appear to have gone over well with everyone. On coronation day, there were hints of friction between Queen Camilla and Princess Kate, according to royal analyst Tom Bower. He claims the latter objected to the number of visitors permitted for the former. Bower also said that Kate did not’move a limb’ when Charles and Camilla departed the Abbey.
It’s not surprising that Camilla, one of the two main players on such a historic day, had so many family members in attendance. Nonetheless, that appears to be one of the reasons Kate is dissatisfied with Camilla.
During an interview with Bower on his show, TV host Dan Wooton prodded the so-called ‘royal expert’ to clarify things further, and asked if the expert biographer feels Kate’s gesture – or lack thereof – could have been influenced by the amount of Parker Bowles family members present at the ceremony.
“Camilla bought twenty Parker Bowles’ tickets to the coronation, and there were four Middleton’s,” Bower told Dan Wooton Tonight.
“What’s more, at the Windsor concert the next day, William makes no mention of Queen Camilla.” As a result, there is some tension.”
The biographer went on to say that the tension was a “dangerous position for Charles to be in,” especially because a “exhausted” Queen Camilla had “disappeared” from public view because Kate was “behaving like the Queen.”
Bower stated that “nobody moved a muscle” when Queen Camilla exited the Abbey.
“If you look at the Coronation footage, as the King and Queen leave the thrones and head for the exit of Westminster Abbey, you’ll see that everyone bows and curtsies to the King and no one moves a limb, a muscle when Camilla passes,” the royal expert explained.
“And it’s because they were mad with her. Nobody moves. Kate and William were both upset. That rage swept through the little crowd by the throne in the heart of Westminster Abbey. And it was immediately apparent to those who had been excluded that no one, let alone Kate, curtsied to Queen Camilla.”
Camilla’s grandchildren did an outstanding job as Pages of Honour, it must be mentioned. However, another royal expert, Kinsey Schofield, had previously stated that Camilla may have strayed too far from royal precedent by giving them such major positions.
“The Royal Family’s value is in their traditions,” she continued. Traditions and ceremonies that the rest of the world aspires to. When they go too far from those traditions, they will enrage and disappoint a large number of people who believe that their acts undermine the mystique.”
Though Camilla’s grandchildren have received more publicity recently, Schofield believes they will not pique the curiosity of royal enthusiasts.

“Camilla’s popularity may have increased, but that doesn’t necessarily mean there will be any interest in her grandchildren,” remarked a royal expert.
“Obviously, neo babies exist, but when you consider the success of Princess Diana’s nieces, Ladies Kitty Spencer, Amelia Spencer, and Eliza Spencer… They all bear a strong likeness to their universally liked Aunt Diana.”
Camilla’s family has had longstanding ties with the Royal Family. However, it appears that the two families have only recently spent time together in regards to Charles and Camilla’s individual offspring.
King Charles, like Camilla, has worked hard to get to know his step-grandchildren and therefore build a relationship with them. Camilla discussed the relationship between her grandchildren and her husband six years ago.
“When we are with my husband in Scotland, he reads them Harry Potter,” Camilla explained. “And he does all the voices because he’s a fantastic mimic.” They are transfixed. “They adore it.”
Camilla’s grandchildren have attended several major royal events, including the coronation. Gus, Louis, and Eliza, the youngest bridesmaid at Prince William and Princess Kate’s 2011 wedding, spent Christmas with the rest of the royals at Sandringham.
Eliza stole the show at William and Kate’s wedding. Her younger twin brothers, on the other hand, were allowed their moment in the spotlight at the coronation, allowing them to be a part of history.
“I enjoy spending time with them, eating together, and going to see a movie or a play.” They are ardent supporters. “It’s always nice to stay in touch with that generation because it keeps you up to date on young people’s feelings and ideas,” she has stated of her grandchildren.
