Kristian Alfonso reveals why she left Days of Our Lives
Kristian-Joy Alfonso was born in Brockton, Massachusett on, September 5, 1963, to Gino and Joanne.
Kristian Alfonso said, ”Of course, I was born on Labor Day, which I guess fits into my life since I’m always running somewhere.”
The actress grew up in Boston, alongside her sister, Lisa, and parents.
Alfonso told North Bay Nugget in 2002, ”I come from an amazing family. They’re incredible. Nurturing, supportive, loving. We’re all very close and talk to each other every single day.”
At the age of 10, Alfonso developed a strong passion for figure skating and it didn’t take long before she won a medal at the Junior Olympic Figure Skating Championships in 1978.
Her dreams of becoming a star in figure skating got ruined after she had an accident at the age of 13. It ended her figure skating dreams, but it opened a new world altogether for her.
Alfonso was soon discovered by a modeling agency and it was so easy for her as she got a body and a beautiful face.
She soon started enrolling in drama classes and launched her career after she was discovered by NBC.
Alfonso told The Vancouver Sun, “I had a great time modeling, but I was glad to move on to acting. I didn’t know camera talk or film talk. Rock was wonderful in helping me out.”
At the age of 18, Alfonso got the role of Hope in Days of our lives. She got an instant breakthrough and her celebrity status skyrocketed.
She told The Daily Journal in 1985, ”I don’t look at myself as a celebrity. If my fans come up to me in my private time, that’s fine. I owe that to them.”
Hope Williams had a husband Bo Brady, portrayed by Peter Reckell, and their love story seemed so real that you won’t help but fall in love with their story.
In 2002, Bo and Hope won an Emmy award for the “America’s FavoriteSupercouple.”
Alfonso left the show in June 2020. She said she could no longer play the role of Hope Williams.
According to her, ”I feel blessed and honored to have been invited into people’s homes for over three decades. However, it is now time for me to write my next chapter.”
At first, she didn’t give a detailed explanation of why she decided to leave the show after 37 years and only got to reveal it all in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.
The show wanted her to take a break for months and when she was back, she was going to flirt with the Navy seal.
Alfonso said in July 2020, “I was taken aback when he said that they wanted … to take me off-camera for four to five months.
It was not something that had ever been discussed but that’s what it was, and to come back in five to six months, or four to five months — whatever that time frame was — I just thought, you know what, it’s time to write a new chapter.”
