Charles, who is 77, was diagnosed with cancer in February 2024. The palace has never named the specific type, though it has been clear from the start that it is not prostate cancer. Officials have said he continues to respond well and that his care has moved into a more precautionary phase.

Harry and his wife Meghan Markle moved back to Britain with their children Archie and Lilibet in August after years in California. In the GQ sit-down, journalist Zach Baron shared that his own father had been treated for prostate cancer and that watching Harry’s class had made him think about anticipatory grief. He asked whether Harry felt something similar given his father’s illness. Harry answered yes and said that kind of feeling can actually be helpful because losing a parent is something almost everyone eventually faces.

When Baron asked if his mother’s death made his father’s diagnosis harder, Harry replied that it did, but then added that his father is getting better. He went on to talk about the difference between losing one parent and losing both. Friends of his who have lost both parents sometimes describe themselves as orphans even in their forties or fifties. He said he had never really considered that before. Harry also reflected on the last phone call he had with Princess Diana when he was twelve. He has spoken openly about regretting that he did not know it would be the final conversation and that, as a child, he simply wanted to go outside and play with his cousins instead of staying on the line.

In the same interview Harry made clear that he wants the fractured relationships with his father and his brother Prince William to heal. He said some people do not want it to work out, but he does. With everything else happening in the world, he believes reconciliation is the most important thing. A spokesperson for Harry later clarified that the remark about “some people” was not meant as a dig at his brother or any other member of the royal family.

When Harry and Meghan moved back to the UK over the summer some hoped it might open a door between the brothers and their families. Archie and Lilibet have three cousins in George, Charlotte and Louis they have barely met if they have met them at all. A reunion still looks distant. Their return was met with a letter from King Charles making it plain they were not being brought back into the working royal fold and could not use their royal titles.

Later reports suggested Prince William stood behind that letter because the future king wants nothing to do with his brother or Meghan. Last week Harry and Meghan appeared together in Nottingham for what many saw as something very close to an official royal outing. They made several stops and greeted people in a way that looked formal. According to a source who spoke to New Idea and was quoted by Express the Prince of Wales was furious.

“William could not believe what he was seeing. It was the final straw for him, it couldn’t have looked more like an official royal duty if it tried,” the source claimed. “It was as if they’d totally ignored Charles’ letter. William is furious about it.”

King Charles is said to have given his sons a deadline to make amends. Now Prince Harry has spoken out in a new GQ interview saying he wants to repair his relationships with both William and their father.

“Some people don’t want it to work out. I want it to work out. With everything else that’s going on in the world, the most important thing is to reconcile – that’s the key point,” Harry told the magazine.

He added that scars stick around forever but what matters is how you look at the past. “Letting go of the past, that’s something that I would encourage everybody to do.” Sibling disagreements and broken relationships between parents and children come up constantly with people he speaks to he said.

The interview was published while the royal family was on duty in Windsor welcoming the Sultan of Oman. A spokesperson for the Sussexes told the BBC the conversation was recorded in September and they had no say in when it would run. The spokesperson also said the line about some people not wanting it to work out was not a swipe at William or anyone else in the family.

Prince William is said to have no interest in reuniting with his brother now or in the future. Royal expert Tom Sykes told Page Six that the future king will respond in the most brutal way possible by saying nothing at all.

“Will William respond? I would be astonished if he responded publicly,” Sykes said. “He never does, and his silence is itself the response.”

Sykes added that the interview will not change anything for William even though it will frustrate him. “Being lectured in public about reconciliation by the person who has caused the problem is exactly what William finds so hard to forgive. Putting the onus on him through the pages of a magazine is not how you repair a relationship.”

Trump took to Truth Social with a direct message. “New Mexico should immediately change its name to New America. We are not Mexico, we are the United States of America!” he wrote. He added that the new name “would add great value and prestige to the State! Home Values and Incomes would rise, and you would be even prouder while saluting our beautiful American Flag!”

He also took a shot at the state’s elections. “Maybe even the Crooked Elections, that New Mexico is known for, would become honest again!” Trump offered no proof for the election claim or any details on how a simple name change would lift property values or paychecks.

This is not a new idea. Last month he shared a map with “Mexico” crossed out in red and “America” written in its place. The White House shared that post on its official X account. He brought it up again on September 9 at the RNC Midterm Convention. “You have a neighboring state, New Mexico. We think it should be called New America,” he said. “I’ll tell you, the people love the idea. I don’t know about the radical left. I’m sure it doesn’t like it, but the people love it.”

New Mexico’s Democratic governor, Michelle Lujan Grisham, has already rejected the suggestion. She said the state’s name “isn’t up for debate — it’s been ours since before the United States existed.” She called the focus a distraction while her administration works on child care, education, health care, and housing. “While the White House wastes time coloring on maps, Nuevo México is busy doing the work,” she said last month.

Trump’s latest post does not explain any formal process for a name change. Article I of the New Mexico constitution states clearly, “The name of this state is New Mexico.” The idea also fits a pattern. Trump has already renamed Lake Ontario “Lake America” for federal use and the Gulf of Mexico the “Gulf of America.”

The order creates a White House Women’s Health Task Force and a new Women’s Health Division at the National Institutes of Health. Melania has been involved in shaping the effort, and she spoke briefly about modernizing women’s healthcare and closing research gaps. Trump signed first, then handed her the pen. He even joked that he wasn’t sure her signature meant anything. She replied that his was the most important.

Once the paperwork was done, Trump reached for her hand and moved in close. Melania turned her head sharply to the side so his lips landed more on her hair than her face. He then tapped the back of her hand a couple of times. The whole exchange lasted only a few seconds, but the video spread quickly.

People online zeroed in on her body language. One commenter said she clearly didn’t want to kiss him. Another joked that she nearly pulled off an exorcist-style head turn. Others described the hand pat as awkward or said her shift away from him looked intentional. A few went further and claimed the moment proved she can’t stand him, though most of those takes stayed in the realm of speculation.

The brief clip has fed into the long-running conversation about how the couple actually gets along. Author Michael Wolff has written that White House staffers see the marriage as being at its lowest point since the Stormy Daniels trial and that the two barely speak. Those remain his assertions. The video itself shows only what happened in those few public seconds.

The task force will be led by White House chief of staff Susie Wiles, who recently finished breast cancer treatment, and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Officials say the work will focus on areas such as maternal health, mental health, endometriosis, Alzheimer’s, osteoporosis, heart disease, and stroke. No specific funding targets were announced.

Melania said in a statement that it was clear women’s healthcare needs to be modernized, the research gap closed, and the search for treatments and cures accelerated. The White House described the order as setting a new standard for women’s health research and care.

Not long after the couple left the working family they did try to find some common ground. Right after Prince Philip’s funeral in 2021 Harry, William and Charles sat down together at Frogmore Cottage. Harry later wrote that the meeting went badly. In Spare he said his family members had “come for a fight” and that he never felt they really wanted to hear why he and Meghan had left in the first place.

Harry described trying to explain his side while he was still nervous and trying hard to stay calm. He said he kept getting cut off. The brothers ended up in a heated argument and Charles finally stepped in. Looking at their flushed faces, the King told them, “please, boys, don’t make my final years a misery.”

That wish still has not come true. Harry and Meghan moved back to the UK this year and the Palace quickly made clear they would not be welcomed back as working royals. A letter went out on Charles’s behalf spelling out that they remain private citizens. A spokesperson for the Sussexes said they were surprised by the letter.

Last week the couple made their first joint public appearance since the move. On Thursday they visited The Community Recording Studio charity in Nottingham, took part in a cooking class at the Himmah Hub, and stopped at the youth charity Epic Partners. From the outside it looked a lot like a royal engagement. Sources told Express and New Idea that William was outraged.

One source said William “could not believe what he was seeing” and called it the final straw because it looked exactly like an official royal duty. The source claimed William and the King’s advisers have been in intense meetings about how to stop Harry and Meghan from gatecrashing other events or clashing with senior royals’ schedules.

While Charles continues with his duties as monarch, watching his two sons refuse to speak to each other has clearly been hard. Sources now say he wants a reunion. According to New Idea he is considering a small tribute next year to mark the 30th anniversary of Princess Diana’s death. He wants both sons there, along with all of Diana’s grandchildren.

One source said Charles figures the anniversary might calm some of the anger by reminding the brothers of family, children and faith. The source added that Charles is “at the point of no return” with Harry and William and is going all-in on a reconciliation for the sake of his grandchildren. After Earl Spencer’s recent book the source said the family needs to present a united front, even if William does not see the advantage right now.

Father Patricio Alfredo Sánchez Molinari, a member of the Redemptorist order also known as the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer, was standing at the altar while a woman in the congregation recited a prayer.

The heavy crucifix, mounted on the wall behind him, suddenly detached and struck him, knocking him out of view of the camera. Cries of panic filled the church as several people, including women from the congregation, rushed forward to help. What caused the crucifix to fall has not been explained.

The Archdiocese of Guayaquil identified him in a post shared the same day and offered condolences. “The Archdiocese of Guayaquil joins in prayer for the eternal rest of his soul and expresses its solidarity, affection and love to the Redemptorist community, his family and friends,” the statement read, adding “Rest in peace.”

Authorities and the archdiocese did not immediately respond to further questions about the incident. Father Sánchez Molinari belonged to an order founded in 1732 that focuses on missionary work, preaching, and serving communities in need.

Zacharia, a former conservative commentator who had worked at the Department of Homeland Security and more recently as a communications adviser for Truth Social, was named to the role on October 9. By Friday, October 16, multiple outlets were reporting that her time as the administration’s chief spokeswoman had ended. Neither she nor the White House immediately responded to requests for comment.

The same day the reports surfaced, Trump told reporters he had spoken with Zacharia and encouraged her to rethink the position. “Honestly, if I were you, I’d reconsider,” he said, recounting the conversation. He added that he told her, “Katie, do you need this? I don’t think you need this.” While he noted that she had been treated poorly by the media, he also suggested the high-pressure job might simply not be a fit for her.

Zacharia stepped into the role after Karoline Leavitt left to focus on her family. Leavitt, who is now a Fox News contributor, gave birth to a daughter in May and later decided the demands of the podium no longer lined up with what she wanted for her young children. Trump had praised Zacharia in the announcement, calling her a loyal supporter with an unblemished record who had been with him from the start and was a devoted member of MAGA.

The scrutiny began almost immediately. Her first and only formal briefing was widely described as awkward. She largely stuck to prepared remarks, took questions from just a handful of reporters, and ended the session after roughly 14 minutes. During one exchange about balancing the job with raising her four children, she mixed up her words and referred to her husband as “my president” before quickly correcting herself. Clips of the moment spread quickly.

Questions also grew about her description of herself as a lawyer. She holds a law degree from Pepperdine but is not licensed to practice in any U.S. state. Reporting indicated she sat for the California bar exam after graduation and did not pass. Trump had referred to her as an attorney, and she had previously described herself that way in media appearances. She later acknowledged she never obtained a law license.

Turnover in the press secretary role is not unusual, though Trump has cycled through more people in the job than many of his predecessors. Across both of his terms he has now had six press secretaries. George W. Bush and Barack Obama, by comparison, had a combined seven over their 16 years in office.

His brother Kyle Giamanco later told NBC News that Kaylub owns a concealed weapon and trained in the past with military veterans. In a 2018 Facebook post Kaylub wrote that he had gone shooting with men who served together in Iraq and that they taught him military drills.

On this day those skills came into play. He entered the school and fatally shot 16 year old Griffin J. John, who had forced his way inside by firing through locked doors.

John, a former special needs student at the school, carried his mother’s pump action shotgun. He killed three children ages 5, 8 and 11 along with a teacher before Giamanco stopped him. Another student, a 7 year old who uses a wheelchair and is a family friend of the Giamancos, was critically wounded after being shot in the face and is recovering after surgery. A 54 year old teacher was also critically injured. Roughly 400 to 450 students attend the school.

Despite the lives he saved, Giamanco has not spoken publicly. His brother said he feels deep guilt that he could not save more children and does not see himself as a hero. On Friday his mother Kenda Freeman, 50, spoke outside the family home in Bend. She told reporters she is super proud of her son and called him absolutely a hero while noting that he is going through a very difficult time.

A family statement said Kaylub is not seeking recognition and instead wants to thank first responders, school staff and the community for their support. The family, including his two daughters, asked for privacy and will not give interviews.

President Trump later described Giamanco as a great hero who took care of business.

When someone asked if Trump was nice or kind, Leavitt didn’t hesitate. She called him the best boss she’s ever had and said people rarely see that side of him because the media doesn’t show it. She described him as nothing but kind and uplifting toward her, even after she left the job, and added that he’s hilarious. She finished with a simple “Love him!”

Leavitt served as press secretary from January 2025 until August 2026. She made history as the youngest person ever to hold the position. She left the role so she could spend more time with her children. In the Q&A she addressed the question of whether she was looking for another full time job. She explained that as press secretary she worked more than 60 hours a week in the office, traveled the world, and stayed on call 24/7. Now she’s home with her kids every day and does some TV hits. Those two things, she said, are not the same.

She also confirmed she will officially start as a Fox News Channel contributor on November 1. FOX News Media CEO Suzanne Scott announced the role earlier this month, and Leavitt is expected to offer commentary across the network’s shows.

Before becoming press secretary she worked in Trump’s first administration as a presidential writer and assistant press secretary. She later ran for Congress as a Republican in New Hampshire’s 1st Congressional District in 2022 and served as communications director for then House Republican Conference Chair Rep. Elise Stefanik.

When followers asked for career advice for anyone hoping to work in public relations or politics, Leavitt told them to get real world experience while they’re still in college. She said classrooms teach a lot, but actual work is where you learn the game. She interned at NBC Sports Boston because she once thought about becoming a sideline sports reporter. She also worked at a local news station before landing a White House internship. Her advice was to apply for every internship possible, say yes to opportunities, and spend summers working instead of hanging out so the experience helps later in a career.

Asked how she spends free time, Leavitt said she doesn’t have any. As a mom of two little ones she’s lucky if she can take a shower in peace. Still, she added, this is the season of life she’s in and she wouldn’t have it any other way.

She spent more than half the briefing reading straight from prepared remarks. The questions that did get asked came from Breitbart, Fox News, and the Daily Mail. During that limited window she announced that the administration had asked Kimberly Guilfoyle, the U.S. ambassador to Greece, to resign over allegations of misconduct. Most of the rest of her time went to praising President Donald Trump and the work his administration has done so far.

Zacharia described the job as a chance to amplify the president, something she said she already does as a conservative commentator. “I hope to take that into an official capacity,” she told reporters. She added that she wants to “only build on, only amplify and only multiply, to the extent possible, all of the wins” Trump has delivered so Americans can see how much has changed in a short period. “My goal is to be able to communicate that in complete tandem with the president, as he is his own best spokesperson and will absolutely be leading the way with that,” she said.

When Fox News asked whether the United States has stopped sharing intelligence with Ukraine in connection with Russia’s invasion, she answered that she would “have to get back to you on that.”

Online reactions were mixed but heavily tilted toward mockery. One viewer asked if the briefing looked like a “hostage video.” Another said she “makes Karoline Leavitt seem like Winston Churchill.” Someone else wrote that it was “giving flight attendant doing the safety briefing for the first time.” A few people predicted she might not even last as long as Anthony Scaramucci, the shortest-serving White House communications director in history. One comment claimed her “only qualifications were to be young blonde and white.”

MS NOW reporter Jake Traylor passed along a blunt assessment from a White House official: “Getting behind the podium is tough, but she got off on the wrong foot. She needs to get much better, fast, otherwise she’ll break Scaramucci’s record.”

Not everyone piled on. White House communications director Steven Cheung told LADBible that “Katie is a fabulous and wonderful addition to the team.” He called her “uniquely qualified and whip smart to help inform the American people about all the great things president Trump and his Administration have been doing,” and said she “will do an incredible job as press secretary.”
