Release of the 911 call related to Gene Hackman’s death

On Wednesday, Gene Hackman and Betsy Arakawa were discovered dead at their home in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office reports that the two, who were 65 and 95 years old, respectively, had “no external trauma” on their corpses, but the cause of their deaths is still under investigation. Now, CNN has the audio from the person who called 911 from Hackman’s estate, who has been identified as a caretaker.

One of Hollywood’s real greats has passed away. After someone claiming to be the caretaker contacted 911, actor Gene Hackman and his wife, pianist Betsy Arakawa, were discovered dead in their Santa Fe, New Mexico, home on Wednesday. According to law police, the call was placed shortly before 2:00 pm.

Hackman’s granddaughter Annie and daughters Elizabeth and Leslie expressed their sadness over the loss in a statement to People Magazine. We regret to inform you of the passing of both our father, Gene Hackman, and his wife, Betsy.

For us, he was always just Dad and Grandpa, but millions of people throughout the world adored and revered him for his outstanding performing career. We are heartbroken by the loss and will miss him terribly,” Elizabeth, Leslie, and Annie Hackman told People Magazine.

On Wednesday, police were sent to Hackman’s residence. According to the complaint, medications were discovered strewn about Arakawa’s body, CNN reported. An open bottle of prescription medication was on the countertop next to her when she was discovered laying on the floor of the lavatory.

One of the couple’s pets was discovered dead in the bathroom closet, and a space heater was discovered next to her head. Hackman’s body, meanwhile, was found close to the kitchen in another room. Investigators “suspected the male individual had suddenly fallen” because he was on the ground. There were no indications of theft or forced entry, although the door was open.

The front door was open, and two other dogs were discovered alive in their home. In their first public comment regarding Hackman and Arakawa’s deaths, the sheriff’s office stated that “foul play is not suspected as a factor in those deaths at this time.”

The sheriff’s office said in a news release on Thursday that it “remains an open investigation.” According to TMZ, a Santa Fe detective who requested a search warrant found that “the death of the two deceased individuals to be suspicious enough in nature to require a thorough search and investigation because the reporting party found the front door of the residence unsecured and opened.”

The sheriff’s office said that the official autopsy and toxicology reports are still pending, and that tests for carbon monoxide and toxology have been required for Hackman and Arakawa.

According to CNN, Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza stated on Thursday that there was “no clear sign or indication of foul play.” He went on to say that there had been no indication of a fight or that the couple’s house was missing anything.

Mendoza added that Arakawa and Hackman had been dead for a long time. “The toxicology and the autopsy will be crucial,” Mendoza continued. Someone claiming to be the caretaker made the 911 call from the Santa Fe residence. According to the affidavit, maintenance personnel discovered the pair dead after CNN got the 911 call.

When speaking with the 911 dispatcher, the caller sounded emotional. They said that they noticed two unconscious people through the window but were unable to enter the house. “They’re not moving, buddy. “Just send someone out here as soon as possible,” the carer instructed the dispatcher.

The toxicology would be crucial to the investigation, according to Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza. Leslie, one of Gene Hackman’s three children, says they won’t rule out the possibility that her father and stepmother died from breathing in poisonous fumes from a carbon monoxide leak. According to the affidavit, there were no indications of a carbon monoxide leak or potential piping issues.

Leslie told the Daily Mail that there was “no indication that there was any problem” with her father before to his death and that the cause of death is still unknown. The terrible incident is still being processed by the family.

Leslie Hackman stated that her father had not had any significant surgery in the previous few months and that “he was in very good physical condition despite his age.” He enjoyed doing yoga and Pilates, and he was still doing it multiple times a week. He was therefore in superb health.
