Shannen Doherty says her ex Kurt Iswarienko is waiting ‘in hopes that I die’ before he has to pay spousal support
“It is simply not right that Kurt be permitted to prolong our divorce in hopes that I die before he is required to pay me,” said Doherty in court records.
Shannen Doherty hopes to receive spousal assistance as her monthly salary diminishes.
Documents acquired by PEOPLE show that the Beverly Hills, 90210 actress, 53, has yet to receive many of her requests for financial information on her ex-husband Kurt Iswarienko’s “archive” of unique photography work.
She believes this is prolonging the procedure as she becomes increasingly ill from her terminal cancer.
“It is simply not right that Kurt be permitted to prolong our divorce in hopes that I die before he is required to pay me while he continues to live his life and shirk his responsibilities to his dying wife of more than 11 years,” according to the court papers.
Iswarienko’s lawyer contested this assertion, claiming that he proposed a settlement plan in October 2023, demonstrating his desire to reach an agreement, but Doherty dismissed it. (The actress filed for divorce in April 2023, after 11 years of marriage.)
“Kurt is not’simply wait[ing] for Shannen to die,'” attorney Katherine Heersema said. “He wants the best for Shannen and he wants both of them to be able to put this case behind them and move forward.” Doherty alleged that suggested settlements “skirted around the issues of his original works created during marriage” and “his earning capacity.”
In the filing, the podcast host requests $15,434 per month in spousal support from the photographer, alleging she will lose her SAG health insurance due to not working and her Charmed residuals are dwindling.
Doherty also accuses Iswarienko of leading a luxurious lifestyle while she lacks access to funds, their plane, and their marriage vacation house in Texas. “Kurt has been utilising the aeroplane, spending thousands of dollars at medical spas, jewellery stores, Gucci and on flights… while simultaneously claiming he has insufficient funds with which to support me,” according to the lawsuit.
According to published calculations, Iswarienko’s average annual income over the past three years was $672,916 spendable. This leaves “at least” $56,076 per month spendable, from which Doherty’s lawyers say spousal support would be deducted.
The identical calculations for Doherty yielded an annual average of $259,708, which included her 2021 and 2022 work, residuals, and health insurance. Doherty claims to have earned slightly more than $25,000 this year, which her lawyers believe represents a considerable decrease in income. She has already incurred over $160,000 in legal fees and is seeking that Iswarienko pay $130,000 in future fees, as well as $10,000 to cover the present sum she owes her attorneys.
