The Ghostbusters and Scarface star passed away at age 88
The loss of a cherished talent is being lamented by the entertainment industry. At the age of 87, Harris Yulin, a well-known actor whose iconic presence illuminated the stage and film, passed away. Sue Leibman, his manager, announced that the veteran actor died of cardiac arrest in New York City on June 10. Yulin’s illustrious career spanned decades, genres, and platforms.
She is most known for her role as the ferocious judge in Ghostbusters II, whose outburst reportedly caused a courtroom full of supernatural pandemonium. He made a lasting impression on Hollywood with hits like Scarface, Clear and Present Danger, and Training Day, as well as a memorable part that earned him an Emmy in 1996 for Frasier.

Furthermore, his talent was not limited to TV and movies. Harris Yulin, a native of Los Angeles, was a theater powerhouse who acted in critically praised shows like Hedda Gabler, The Price, and The Visit and performed Hamlet three times off-Broadway.
Additionally, he contributed to the field by teaching for eight years at the esteemed Juilliard School in New York City.
Alongside Laura Linney and Kevin Kline, Yulin has been preparing for a new television production called American Classic. Michael Hoffman, the show’s director, talked passionately about the actor’s legacy. According to CNN, Hoffman said in a statement, “Very simply one of the greatest artists I have ever encountered.” And what he was as a man—the elegance, the humility, the generosity—was what he was as an actor. Our encounter with him has been a blessing for all of us at American Classic.

According to reports, Yulin had been working on future projects with longtime colleague Stacy Keach, who costarred with him in the 1971 western DOC, until his passing. Yulin’s strong arc opposite Jason Bateman and Laura Linney will also stick in the minds of fans of the Netflix sensation Ozark.
Over the years, he made a variety of TV appearances, including Veep, Billions, Divorce, and The Unbreakable. Kimmy Schmidt and, all of a sudden… Despite his lengthy career, many people will never forget that iconic scene from Ghostbusters II, where his enraged outburst in court unleashes a flood of spectral mayhem, solidifying his legacy in popular culture.

Actress Kristen Lowman is the wife of Harris Yulin, who dated Faye Dunaway from 1971 to 1972. Other survivors include a nephew, a son-in-law, and other godchildren. Actress Claire Lucido, his daughter, predeceased him.
