The store cashier slipped me cash, and the receipt made my blood run cold
It had been a tough week. Bills were building up, my car was barely running, and my pay cheque simply wasn’t enough. As I stood in the queue, I subconsciously estimated the amount I’d have to return. When the sum came up, my stomach dropped—I was short.
It was another day when I had to choose between my needs and avoid acquiring too many goods. Times were rough, and despite only purchasing a few items from the store, I was still short on money. Embarrassment was written all over my face, but suddenly the cashier gave me money.

“I’ve been there,” she muttered.
After thanking her and making my way to the parking lot, I saw a note with the receipt that read, “Take your child and leave. Now. Don’t look back.”
To be honest, I became terrified because I couldn’t understand what was happening; was I in danger? My first instinct was to go back to the store, but I chose to follow the note and go home instead.
The cashier wasn’t there when I looked around. After I asked around, the manager of the store came over.
“Searching for a specific item?” Observing me standing at the register for an abnormally lengthy time, he enquired.
I said, “Yes, I am looking for a cashier.” Yesterday, she was at her job.
After describing her appearance, I was informed that she was no longer employed there. The pleasant cashier was apparently fired the day she gave me money.
The manager, who was exceedingly unpleasant, said she violated the store’s regulation by giving a customer money.
“Oh my God,” I exclaimed to myself. “Did she lose her job for stepping in for me and my child?”
I wanted to know more about her name and address. However, the manager refused to share such information with me.
In an attempt to find her down, I resorted to social media, never expecting my message to go global in a matter of days.
*Most importantly, the story was picked up by local media, and the friendly cashier who slipped me cash contacted me shortly after.*
I apologised for getting her into trouble, but she insisted everything was great.
She added that she had spotted a suspicious individual walking right next to me the entire time I was at the store, which is why she wrote that note, thinking I might put myself in danger.
What about her kindness and losing her job? The local media had already picked up on the topic, so the store’s corporate office became involved. They offered her the job back, but the attractive cashier had other intentions. She claimed she found a work where compassion was not punished.
