There is an airdate for Pat Sajak’s last “Wheel of Fortune” episode

Entertainment Weekly confirmed that Sajak will depart the show on Friday, June 7, the day his last episode as host airs, after 43 years. The current season 41 finale and the farewell episode will take place at the same time.

Sajak won three of the 19 Daytime Emmy Awards that he was nominated for for his hosting position. In addition to participating in Wheel of Fortune since its 1983 premiere, he hosted the daytime version from 1981 to 1989. “Well, the time has come,” stated Sajak in the statement he released last summer.

I’ve made the decision that I won’t be returning for our 41st season, which starts in September. In the upcoming months, I’ll have more to say about this amazing journey. Many thanks to each and every one of you. (If nothing else, it will occupy the time of the clickbait websites!)

Resigning from his position does not imply that Sajak will be leaving television completely. Conversely, he will continue for three years in his role as a consultant. Ryan Seacrest was swiftly selected by the network to replace Sajak for season 42, and he also assumed the position of consultant producer.

Regarding the new position, Seacrest remarked, “I’m truly humbled to be stepping into the footsteps of the legendary Pat Sajak.” “I can say that watching Pat and Vanna on our television screens for an unprecedented 40 years has been a privilege and pure joy for me and the rest of America. They make us smile every night and feel right at home.”

Wheel of Fortune will honour the longstanding presenter with a series of episodes titled “Thanks for the Memories” leading up to his final show.

Vanna White said it was difficult to imagine “Wheel of Fortune” without Sajak, but she will stay with the programme until 2025–2026. “Wheel of Fortune is associated with Pat and Vanna,” White said to PEOPLE in 2022. “You know, we’re kind of like Ken and Barbie. We have spent forty years living in everyone’s homes.
