Patricia Krentcil became on every tabloid after she was convicted for taking her daughter to a tanning salon. Many people become obsessed with different things, but for Patricia it was tanning.
Patricia Krentcil is said to have an unlimited monthly tanning plan where she spends a maximum of 12 minutes in a tanning salon, Nutley, New Jersey.
She explained, “I’ve been tanning my whole life, going to the beach, tanning salons and so forth.”
Patricia Krentcil didn’t get famous for tanning get skin. She placed her 6-year-old daughter in a stand-up tanning booth leaving the little girl with a burn, hence she was faced with criminal charges of child endangerment.
Patricia claims that she doesn’t go to the tanning salon with her child as she’s fully aware that kids not up to the age of 14 aren’t allowed in and teenagers aren’t allowed either with a parent’s consent.
Patricia Krentcil said, “There’s not room… I would never permit it… It didn’t happen. She’s 6 years old. Yes, she does go tanning with mommy, but not in the booth,” she added. “The whole thing’s preposterous!”
New York dermatologist Doris Day told ABC News, “When you look at this, this is somebody who has a problem who most likely has a condition called tanorexia, where they just don’t realize just how much color they have. “There’s really no excuse to take a young child to a tanning salon.”
She continued: “We often consider going to a tanning salon the equivalent of smoking for the skin and the younger you start, those effects are cumulative.”
According to Dr. Zeichner, Patricia suffers from body dysmorphic disorder, wherein one is constantly left unhappy with their own appearance.
“Patients like this are constantly having elective cosmetic procedures – either surgeries, laser treatments or Botox and fillers,” he explained. “Which also includes those who are addicted to tan skin.”
Patricia Krentcil was bashed for her mode or parenting and she retaliated calling them fat and ugly. She claims she didn’t commit any crime against anybody. She loves tanning and she’s the same as other people who love smoking or getting their nails done.
She also went ahead to say that what happened to her daughter suffered a sunburn and not what other people are saying.
She wants to cash in on her new-found fame as she’s out of cash, has legal bills to pay and her husband isn’t working.
She’s been getting a lot of modelling offers from different locations and she’s quite picky as it affects where she’s going to be moving with her family to.
Today, she has embraced her identity as the “Tan Mom,” and doing great. She didn’t let the incident of the past years hold her down and still tans twice a week.
