Trump Says He Looked for “Someone Smarter” to Lead DOGE Rather than Elon Musk

As evidenced by his latest conversation with Elon Musk, Donald Trump is never afraid to voice his ideas. The two men were truly the sight to behold as they conversed. The way the former president showered Musk with accolades and acknowledged that he set out to find someone who could outsmart the tech visionary was remarkable.

The Tesla CEO was surprised to hear such a confession. Trump informed Musk, however, that he had searched but had not found somebody with the intelligence or capacity to equal his skill.

Trump clarified that Musk was there for this reason. Therefore, it made perfect sense to Musk to be appointed head of the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE.

The discussion occurred during a Fox News interview with Sean Hannity, in which Trump discussed what inspired him about Musk and what the general public ought to know about the top cost-cutter. “You know, I wish I could find someone smarter than him,” he said, before laughing and acknowledging that his endeavor had been unsuccessful. If this isn’t a boost to Musk’s ego, we don’t know what is.

Trump continued to elaborate, stating, “That’s why I chose this guy,” pointing to Musk, who grinned widely, as anyone would in that situation.

This lighthearted but sincere interaction underscored Trump’s real regard for Musk’s brains and abilities, cementing Musk’s place as a key figure in his vision for government efficiency.
