Why Did Trump Leave the Super Bowl Early

Donald Trumps early exit from the Super Bowl left a lot of people surprised especially considering the estimated $15-$20 million price tag for his trip.

Between Air Force One, Secret Service, local law enforcement, and any potential stadium security upgrades, it was an expensive outing. But despite all that, Trump didn’t stick around for the entire game, which set off a wave of speculation.

Was It About the Score?

Some believe Trump left because the Kansas City Chiefs were struggling. Though he’s never officially declared himself a Chiefs fan, there were hints. Tight end Travis Kelce even called playing in front of him an honour’ fueling the theory that Trump was invested in the game. But as the Chiefs fell behind to the Philadelphia Eagles, eventually losing 40-22, some fans joked that Trump lost interest and took off early.

A Reaction to Kendrick Lamar?

Another theory suggests Trump wasn’t happy with Kendrick Lamar’s halftime performance, which reportedly contained subtle jabs at him.

Some social media users claimed that after Lamar’s set, Trump decided to leave. While others think that’s a bit of a reach, the performance did include political messages enough for some to assume it clashed with Trumps presence.

Just Avoiding Traffic?

The simplest (and maybe most likely) explanation? Security logistics. Presidents rarely stay until the very end of major events, especially something as massive as the Super Bowl. Can you imagine the motorcade trying to leave at the same time as 60,000+ fans? Leaving early might have just been the best way to avoid a security headache.

Whatever the real reason, Trump’s early departure got people talking. And hey, if you’re spending $20 million for a Super Bowl trip, you probably want to enjoy at least some of it’s right?
