This is a sad day’: Ellen DeGeneres posts heartfelt message to ex Anne Heche as actress is declared dead at 53 and celebrity tributes pour in

Just before it was announced that the actress had passed away at the age of 53, Ellen DeGeneres wrote a touching tribute to her ex-girlfriend Anne Heche on her website.
The former talk show host’s message was sent just before it was confirmed on Friday morning that Heche had been pronounced legally dead. Her heart is still beating, though, in order to be harvested for donation.

The way they were: Ellen DeGeneres posted a heartfelt message to her ex-girlfriend Anne Heche just before it was revealed that the actress has died aged 53

‘Sending Anne’s children, family, and friends all of my love,’ added DeGeneres, 64, who dated Heche from 1997 to 2000, “This is a sad day.”
DeGeneres and Heche were so committed that they announced in 1999 that they would get married if Vermont approved same-sex unions.
This Thursday, Heche’s team made the statement that the injuries she incurred in her terrible automobile wreck were such that it was “unlikely” that she would survive.

On August 5, while under the influence of cocaine, she sped up to 90 mph and crashed into Lynne Mishele’s home.
As a result of the destruction of Mishele’s home and her severe injuries, the police launched a felony inquiry.

Throwback to 1997: DeGeneres and Heche were serious enough that in 1999, they declared that if Vermont legalized same-sex marriage, they would tie the knot

The former talk-show host’s statement was sent just before it was reported on Friday morning that Heche had been legally declared dead, albeit her heart is still beating in order to be harvested for donation.

DeGeneres, 64, who dated Heche from 1997 to 2000, remarked, “This is a terrible day.” “I’m sending all of my love to Anne’s kids, family, and friends.”

Putting their differences aside: Heche is pictured in 2009 with her ex James Tupper, with whom she had fought a protracted and bitter custody battle over their son Atlas, 13

DeGeneres and Heche took the issue of same-sex marriage seriously enough that they promised to get married in 1999 if Vermont’s supreme court ruled in favour of the practise in a widely reported case at the time.

The injuries Heche incurred in her catastrophic automobile crash on August 5, when she drove into a house at 90 mph while under the influence of cocaine, were ‘not expected to survive,’ according to her team’s announcement on Thursday.

After a protracted and contentious custody fight over their 13-year-old son Atlas, Heche’s ex James Tupper put their disagreements aside and simply wrote, “I love you forever,” along with a broken heart emoji.
