Remember Julia Stiles? This is why you don’t hear so much about her anymore

Julia Stiles rose to fame in the late 1990s after winning over millions of fans as Kat Stratford in the smash teen comedy 10 Things I Hate About You.

Her face could be seen on almost every tabloid in the early 2000s as she quickly rose to become one of Hollywood’s most sought-after actresses.

However, how frequently do you hear her name now?

Many people anticipated that the young, stunning actress would have a successful future in the entertainment business. Then all of a sudden, she decided to try something completely different and left the flash and glamour of Hollywood.

Gil Junger’s 10 Things I Hate About You was Julia Stiles’ breakthrough performance, but she had already had a lot of acting experience by that point.

She began performing with the La MaMa Theater Company in New York City at the age of 11. After her parents took her to off-Broadway shows when she was younger, she became obsessed with theatre.

The love film I Love You, I Love You Not gave 15-year-old Julia her first acting break when she appeared opposite Claire Danes and Jude Law.

A few smaller parts then came next.

Finally, in 1999, with the release of 10 Things I Hate About You, Julia achieved success. Alongside Heath Ledger, one of Hollywood’s top heartthrobs, Julia played the rebellious Kat Stratford.

Julia made a comeback to the big screen in 2008 with The Bourne Ultimatum, her highest-grossing movie to date, in which her character Nicky played a considerably more substantial role. Sadly, though, that part wasn’t enough to get her back into the biggest Hollywood productions.

Instead, Julia worked on niche projects. She also made the decision to live out a childhood dream by playing Carol opposite Bill Pullman in the Broadway production of Oleanna.

Her career took a turn in 2019 when she landed the role of journalist Elizabeth in the crime comedy-drama Hustlers.

The movie, which was made on a small budget and in just 29 days, was a major box office hit. With Jennifer Lopez and Constance Wu among her co-stars, Julia thought she was back on track.

A movie like Hustlers, according to the New York native, “is such an affirmation that I have a home in the film industry and subjects that I’m interested in are being told.”

According to rumours, Julia is a die-hard New York Mets fan. She presumably resides in New York City based on the images on her Instagram account.

Julia dated actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt while she was a college student, but she is now married to camera operator Preston J. Cook. They first came into contact in 2016 while both were working on the film Go with Me.

Later that year, the star of 10 Things I Hate About You made her engagement public. Julia and Preston were married in 2017 while Julia was expecting a boy.
