Kate Middleton and Prince William have a naughty moment in public, which experts believe is a positive sign
When King Charles II and his wife Queen Camilla were crowned, Prince William and Kate Middleton sat in the first row of King Charles II’s Coronation.
They took part in the historic day with their three children, which included a beautiful ceremony and interactions with members of the general public.
But, just as things were getting back to normal, William and Kate attended the king’s second coronation on Wednesday – King Charles’ Scottish “coronation,” which took place in St. Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh, Scotland.
As always, the couple looked lovely in their attire and seemed delighted to be a part of the historic occasion. Kate even appeared to do something naughty with William, which, according to one expert, is not uncommon.
In May, King Charles and Queen Camilla were crowned at Westminster Abbey. However, the royal couple’s second “coronation” took place on Wednesday, July 5, at St. Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Despite not being crowned, the new king was given the Honours of Scotland – the crown, sceptre, and sword of state – during the ritual. The Stone of Destiny, an important symbol of Scottish identity, was also present at the momentous event.
According to Newsweek, Kate and her stylists tweaked the outfit this time around by “accessorising the look with a beret style asymmetrical hat, featuring a sculpted element echoing a feather.”
“Kate stunned in patriotic Scottish blue at the Coronation today,” said celebrity stylist and royal fashion expert Miranda Holder, “but while the vivid colour of her Catherine Walker ensemble made her stand out from the crowd, it was actually an understated choice, being a repeat item she had worn before.” Holder said that the coat-dress was appropriate given Kate Middleton and Prince William’s environmental consciousness.
“Kate is conscious of sustainability in fashion, and is of course a keen advocate of her husband’s Earthshot cause,” she explained, “as well as striking a careful balance between looking elegant and ‘royal’ whilst not being too ostentatious or’showy’ in today’s economically-challenged climate.”
After the St. Giles ceremony, Prince William and Kate, recognised as the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay in Scotland, were spotted conversing with each other while the Red Arrows made their flypast.
Kate also looked to make what some could consider a dirty gesture: a tiny bum pat. Judi James, a body language specialist, talked to the Mirror about the incident, adding that she can definitely see a difference between how William and Kate speak with each other and how Charles and Camilla connect.
“The King and Queen are more like a ventriloquist act, both muttering asides to each other in a way that doesn’t look like real conversation, but the ability to mutter may feel comforting for them both at events like this,” James explained to the Mirror.
