Cindy Crawford Left in Shock After Son Presley Gerber’s Devastating Death at 27

Cindy Crawford is still trying to take in the loss of her only son. A source close to the supermodel told People she is heartbroken and completely in shock after Presley Gerber died at 27. Presley, the son she shares with businessman Rande Gerber, died on September 20.

Santa Monica police records show a call that morning for an overdose at a facility in the area. The same dispatch also noted cardiac arrest. Paramedics pronounced him dead at 9:45 a.m. Detectives are investigating the case as a suspected overdose and have said there is no indication of foul play.

A source close to his sister Kaia Gerber said the family is in total shock and saddened beyond words. The source said Kaia loved that Presley was so open about his struggles and that the family was proud he was finding strength in helping other people.

A second source who has been close to Crawford told People this was never a case of two absent Hollywood parents. Cindy and Rande stayed involved through the long years of difficulty. They were always there for him and did everything they could, the source said. The family has always been close, and Presley was deeply loved.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has completed the autopsy. The official cause and manner of death have been deferred while additional testing is done, a process that can take a few months. The office said the investigation is still in its early stages and that limited information is available. Santa Monica police remain the investigating agency.

Presley had spoken publicly for years about depression, mental health, and drug use. On the Studio 22 podcast in 2023 he said that if he could help one person or a hundred people get out of the place he had once been in, that would be enough. He called mental health a 24/7 job and said he hoped he had already made the mistakes so other people would not have to.

His last public appearance came in June at the We Are ENOUGH x Aviator Nation launch in Malibu. He smiled as he stood between his parents with his arm around his dad.
