Presley Gerber Death Investigated as Suspected Overdose After Rehab Facility Call

Presley Gerber, the 27 year old son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, died on Sunday at a rehabilitation facility in Santa Monica. In the days since, police and the Los Angeles County medical examiner have begun to share what they know about his final hours.

A family spokesperson asked the public for space, saying they are “asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time.”

Presley had been open for years about mental health and substance abuse, talking about it in interviews and on social media. He was staying at Resolutions Living in Santa Monica when first responders were called on the morning of September 20.

Santa Monica police said detectives are investigating the death as a suspected overdose. Officers were sent to the 1000 block of Berkeley Street around 9:35 a.m. after a report of a possible overdose. When they arrived, they found an adult male who had already died. Paramedics pronounced him dead at 9:45 a.m. Police said there is no indication of foul play and that the investigation remains open.

Dispatch recordings obtained by People magazine referenced cardiac arrest and an overdose at the same address.

The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner later said a deputy medical examiner completed an examination on Monday. Officials described the case as still in the early stages, with limited information available. The cause and manner of death have been deferred because additional testing was requested. Deferred cases can take a few months before a determination is made.

Presley was also the brother of model and actress Kaia Gerber. He started modeling as a teenager, walking for houses including Moschino, Calvin Klein and Dolce & Gabbana, and later spoke publicly about the work of staying well.
