Kim McGuire Life after Cry-Baby
Kim McGuire will always be associated with the musical movie Cry-Baby.
After the movie premiered in 1980, Kim became in the spotlight and 6 years later the actress was nowhere to be seen.
Kim McGuire was born in New Orleans, Louisana on December 1, 1955. Her father was a lawyer and Kim wanted to continue his legacy, but not until she changed her mind and went to study dancing at the University of New Orleans.
She didn’t let her dreams of being a lawyer die off completely as she went to Loyola Law School and became a lawyer.
The cast of Cry-Baby began to look for who was going to play the role of “Hatchet face” in 1989 and after the auditions, Kim was chosen amongst other Candidates.
“This has been my dream since I was 3. I started off as a dancer and said I wanted to make myself as triple-threat as possible, and do Chekhov and Shakespeare… I just think it’s so magical. I hate to say it, but I’ve always wanted to be a star.”
The 34-year-old left a great impression on the audience and the film was a huge success.
She appeared in her last movie in 1995 which was an episode of New York Undercover.
In 1994, Kim got married to her husband Gene and started a life together.
The couple was still trying to find their feet when a hurricane blow destroyed their home leaving them homeless.
“We had really made our place in Biloxi. It’s a shame the way it worked out,” Kim McGuire told Sun Herald in 2015.
According to reports, they lost everything “except for Gene’s Emmy, which was found broken amidst the rubble that was their home.”
They had no place of their own and stayed in shelter homes and hotels.
”We wound up having to go into Section 8 housing. A real change. In L.A., both of us were pretty high economically. I was wearing $ 1,200 dresses. From that, to nothing.
Living in Beverly Hills, to nothing. It was just a big change of lifestyle. It’s not just material things. It’s losing roots. I have not seen my parents in three years, which is just horrible,” Kim said in 2015.
After 10 years of moving over five times, the couple seems to be finding their feet again.
Kim wrote a book and all she has been through and how she managed to overcome them all.
Kim died at 60 years old after suffering cardiac arrest.
”The outpouring of love and prayers for Kim from her family, friends and fans has been overwhelming and most comforting. Kim’s parents and sister thank you very much.
Kim was a dancer, choreographer, actor, attorney and author and credited her dear father for instilling in her a love of learning,” her obituary said.
Thank you for the memories and happy moments. Keep resting in Peace.
