Being a celebrity as a teenager is always the hardest part of it all, you are constantly judged and scrutinized. Your private affairs become a topic of interest to your fans. Kristy had to go through a lot.

Kristy Nicholas was born on September 11, 1962, in Los Angeles. She was one of the most sought actresses during the 70s and 80s.

In 1976 she became the viewer’s favorite after starring as Letitia ‘Buddy’ Lawrence in the television series “Family.”

She earned herself an Emmy award after starring in the series and went on to appear in other TV series.

Speaking about her private life, Kristy always had a thing for men. Kristy dated the American actor and television director Scott Baio in 1977. The relationship didn’t last long, though, and one year later she started dating singer and actor Leif Garret. They broke up in 1979, after just two years together, According to DatingCelebs.

She started off with men, but that’s not where her sexuality lies. In the 80s she dated actress Ina Liberace. According to DatingCelebs, she also had a relationship with Canadian actress Elisabeth Brooks.

Kristy always looked like she had a perfect life, but behind the scenes, she had issues with her mental health.

It soon started to affect her work as she ran away during filming in France.

She said, as per NewsAmomama, “I couldn’t eat, and the whole month I was in France I hardly slept. When I did sleep, I was dreaming strange things. I was crying all the time. My weight dropped down to about 96 lbs. Nonstop anxiety. I was always shaking like a leaf. Freaking out, crying, confused, I didn’t know what was going on.”

She was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and it was traced back to her rough childhood. Kristy retired from acting in 2001.

She said, ”A lot of people have wondered what I’ve been up to. I retired from my career after 24 years. My feeling was that it was time to play my biggest part – myself! I must say that it has been the best thing that ever happened to me. So many fans are disappointed that I’m not currently acting; however, some may not realize that the process I’m in at this time is necessary and vital for my personal happiness and well-being.”

She left the big screens and lived with her heartthrob Martie Allen.
