Andrew Lloyd Webber’s eldest son, named Robert Lloyd Webber, passed away at the age of 43. Robert was a talented musician and performer in his own right and had been nominated for a Grammy award in 2013 for his work on the cast recording of “Jesus Christ Superstar.” His passing is undoubtedly a great loss to his family, friends, and the music industry.

It’s heartbreaking to learn that he had been receiving treatment for gastric cancer and had been moved to hospice care before his passing at Basingstoke Hospital in Hampshire.

Nicholas was a talented composer and record producer who, like his father, had made significant contributions to musical theatre. He was nominated for a Grammy for his work on the musical theatre adaptation of his father’s Cinderella, which he worked on alongside David Wells and David Zippel. He also composed the music for an adaptation of The Little Prince.

I am shattered to have to announce that my beloved elder son Nick died a few hours ago in Basingstoke Hospital. His whole family is gathered together and we are all totally bereft. -ALW
