Ashley Biden Shares Heartwarming Update on Her Father’s Cancer Journey
Ashley Biden, daughter of former President Joe Biden, recently gave an emotional update from the hospital about her dad’s ongoing battle with prostate cancer.
Back in May, the 82-year-old former president shared the tough news that he’d been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer. It all started when he noticed some urinary issues, which led doctors to discover a small nodule on his prostate.

In a statement at the time, Biden’s team explained, “Last week, President Joe Biden was evaluated after experiencing worsening urinary symptoms, and doctors found a prostate nodule. On Friday, tests confirmed prostate cancer with a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) and some spread to the bone. While this is a more aggressive type, the cancer is hormone-sensitive, which means it can be managed effectively with treatment.”
This week, a spokesperson for Biden’s team shared a rare glimpse into his treatment plan, revealing that the former president has been undergoing radiation therapy and hormone treatment to tackle the disease. “The cancer’s responding well to hormone therapy, which is a promising sign for managing it,” the spokesperson added, per Hello Magazine.

Now, Ashley Biden has offered a deeply personal update straight from the hospital, where her father just wrapped up a round of radiation treatment. In a touching Instagram post to her nearly 29,000 followers, Ashley shared a video of Joe Biden ringing the bell at Penn Medicine Radiation Oncology in Philadelphia—a powerful tradition for cancer patients marking the end of a treatment phase.
In the caption, Ashley wrote, “Rung the Bell! Huge thanks to the amazing doctors, nurses, and staff at Penn Medicine. We’re beyond grateful!” Another photo showed Joe surrounded by family, with Ashley adding, “Dad’s been so incredibly brave through all of this. So thankful.”
Reflecting on his diagnosis earlier this year, Biden himself kept an optimistic tone, saying, “It’s just about taking a pill—one specific pill—for the next six weeks, then switching to another. The prognosis looks good, things are moving forward, and I’m feeling hopeful.”
Here’s to sending love, strength, and prayers to former President Biden and his family as they navigate this challenging time!
