Cherie Walker Gets Life Sentences in Muskogee Child Abuse Case Involving Home Birth
An Oklahoma mother is now facing the rest of her life behind bars after a judge handed down seven consecutive life sentences for her role in the sexual abuse and neglect of her young daughter. Cherie Walker, 34, was sentenced on Friday, October 30, 2026, by a Muskogee County judge. Local outlets including KOKH and KTUL reported the outcome, and public court records confirm the terms.
The case traces back to August 16, 2025, when the couple’s then 11-year-old daughter gave birth to a full-term baby inside the family home in Muskogee County. She had received no prenatal care and no medical help during the delivery. Hospital staff later alerted authorities after the girl was brought in following the birth. Both Cherie and her husband, Dustin Walker, initially told investigators they had no idea the child was pregnant.

Muskogee County Assistant District Attorney Janet Hutson described the situation in stark terms at the time. “This child is traumatized,” she said. “She’s been through a horrific ordeal. Not only has somebody gotten her pregnant, but she gave birth at home without medical assistance, and this will be her life for the rest of her life.” DNA testing later established that Dustin Walker, the girl’s stepfather, was the baby’s father with high certainty.
Prosecutors argued that Cherie Walker knew her husband was sexually abusing their daughter yet did nothing to stop it. A jury convicted her on July 17, 2026, of one count of enabling child sexual abuse and six counts of child neglect.

The seven consecutive life terms followed the jury’s recommendation. Dustin Walker had already pleaded guilty earlier in the year to sexual abuse of a child under 12 and multiple neglect counts. He received a life sentence plus additional years on the neglect charges, to be served consecutively, and must register as a sex offender with no contact allowed with the victims.
The girl’s maternal grandmother, Michelle Justus, was also charged in connection with the case. Authorities said she knew abuse was occurring in the home and failed to intervene. The Muskogee County district attorney’s office has not issued further public comment on the final sentencing.
