Delivery Driver Grilled by Police in Nancy Guthrie Case Speaks Out: “I’m Innocent and I’m Done”

The delivery driver who was questioned by police in connection with the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie has finally spoken out after being let go.

Carlos Palazuelos, 36, was pulled over by officers on February 10 while he was out on his delivery route. He spent several hours in custody as investigators looked into any possible link to the case. Nancy, the 84-year-old mother of TODAY co-host Savannah Guthrie, vanished from her home near Tucson, Arizona, on February 1, and the search has now stretched into its second week with no sign of her.

Palazuelos was eventually released without any charges. He told reporters outside his home in Arizona that he felt like he was being held against his will. “They didn’t even read me my rights until a couple of hours in,” he said. He insisted he had no idea who Nancy or Savannah Guthrie are, adding that he doesn’t really follow the news.

When officers asked him questions, he remembers responding in frustration: “What the heck am I doing here? I didn’t do anything—I’m innocent, honestly.”

Before his release, DoorDash—his employer—issued a statement saying they were looking into the reports and cooperating fully with law enforcement. They expressed support for the Guthrie family during this awful time.

Palazuelos mentioned to investigators that he might have delivered a package to Nancy’s home back on February 1, the day she went missing, but that’s as far as any connection went.

He wrapped up by saying he just hopes the real person responsible gets caught soon. “I’m not it,” he stressed. “They need to do their job, find who did this, and clear my name. I’m over it.”

Meanwhile, the investigation continues. Two ransom notes demanding $6 million in bitcoin have come and gone without payment—neither included any explicit threat about what would happen if ignored. The FBI recently shared new images from a video doorbell camera showing someone dressed in a balaclava, gloves, zipped jacket, and carrying a backpack, apparently tampering with the camera at Nancy’s house on the morning she disappeared.

FBI Director Kash Patel described the footage as a key development, showing an armed individual at the door that morning. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward as thousands of tips keep pouring in and searches of nearby desert areas go on. The family, including Savannah, has shared heartfelt videos pleading for help and saying they still believe Nancy is out there.
