Denise Alexander, a former member of “General Hospital,” pays tribute to her late co-star Jacklyn Zeman
Denise Alexander is paying respect to Jacklyn Zeman, a fellow General Hospital cast member who died unexpectedly on May 9 after a brief battle with cancer. Zeman died on April 27, just three days after turning 70 and less than two weeks after her final episode of General Hospital aired.
“Oh, girl, I can’t stop crying because I keep hearing and laughing at your voice.” I’ve always admired and treasured your sweetness, wit, brilliance, and amazing goodness. The best embraces, as well. I shall always cherish you. Denise,” Alexander said in a brief letter made public by Soap Hub on May 15.
Denise Alexander joined the General Hospital cast in 1973 as Dr. Lesley Webber. Nurse Bobbie Spencer was not played by Jacklyn Zeman until 1977. Denise and Jacklyn had a great bond both on and off camera until Jacklyn’s terrible death on May 9.
Not everyone in Alexander’s old cast remembered Zeman. Anthony Geary, who played Luke Spencer in the show, delivered TVLine an exclusive statement on May 11, a few days following the star’s death. For more than 40 years, Zeman’s role served as a big brother to Geary’s character.
“I never overheard her criticising any actor, crew member, or colleague. In actuality, Jackie never said anything negative about anyone in front of me. “I’ve discovered that this quality is extremely rare in a highly competitive industry where ego, feelings, and emotions are vital,” Geary wrote.
Frank Valentini, a soap opera executive producer, was the first to report her death. She was “a bright light and true professional who brought so much positive energy to work,” he added, adding that while she will be much missed, her cheerful attitude will never be forgotten.
As word of the late actor’s death circulated online, tributes for Jacklyn Zeman began to come in. Her General Hospital TV family paid tribute to the 70-year-old, praising her generosity and positive spirit even on her hardest days. Her legacy will be treasured for all eternity.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to spend so much time with this lovely woman.” Jackie had amazing stories to tell, a captivating attitude, and a life to be remembered. “She loved working on General Hospital,” Laura Wright, who played Carly Spencer, Zeman’s daughter in the serial show, said on Instagram.
Wright took up Carly’s role before Tamara Braun, who played Carly, also praised Zeman. “I don’t know what to say. This pains and upsets me beyond description. I wish I could hug you. Join us in our mirth. Tell your story. “Talk real talk because that’s what we did,” Braun advised on Instagram.
