Donna Mills put her career on hold to become a mom and found love 7 years later
Donna Mills became a single mom at the age of 54 and decided to put her career on hold so as to be with her daughter, Chloe.
Her acting career dates back to 1966 on television with a six-month stint on the CBS daytime soap opera The Secret Storm, as character Rocket. Her career was great as she also got to appear in the popular soap opera General Hospital.
She had the perfect career, but it seems her love and emotional life decided to take a different dimension. The most turbulent of all was her 20-year-old relationship with Richard Holland.
Many always felt their relationship was odd as Richard Holland was previously married to musician Chaka Khan with whom he shares a son, Damian. Richard was often marked as laid back and lazy whole Donna Mills was the active, high-energy and motivated go-getter.
During their union people often said Richard Holland was a gold digger and was only with Donna Mills because of the money.
During the course of their two decades together, Mills always accommodated Damian and created a space in her home where he often stayed if his parents was on a career tour or any other occasion.
Donna Mills welcomed Richard Holland into her $1.5 million home and had to redecorate to suit their tastes and he was the first man she welcomed into her home with open arms.
While together with Richard Holland, Donna Mills didn’t have any child and many are of the opinion that she wanted to face her career and wanted to start a family later on in life.
She finally decided to have a child at the age of 54 in 1994.
“I was very concentrated on my career, but at a certain point, I realized there was something missing — it was a child,” she said. “So I went after it. I adopted her when she was four days old.”
Many thought she was being inconsiderate as she was getting old and can’t raise a child, but she was willing to take the risk.
She decided she was going to do everything to raise Chloe in the best possible way ever and went to put an indefinite hold on her career.
Chloe is 27 years today and her relationship with her mother is unbreakable.
In 2001, Donna Mills found love once again. She started a relationship with her soul mate, actor and producer Larry Gilman and they Still managed to keep going even after 2 decades. We wish them all the best.
