While growing up it wasn’t so easy for her and her family as they were recognized as Jewish outcasts.

Roseanne told The Guardian in 2008, ”You weren’t supposed to think there. First of all, it was frowned upon to be a girl, and second of all to be a fat, dark-haired girl who had no waist, and third to be a loudmouthed, short, fat, dark girl.”

At the age of 16, she got involved in a motor accident and it so much affected her brain that she had to spend months in a psychiatric hospital.

Roseanne started performing on stage at the age of six. She finally moved to Colorado at the age of 18 and started working in a bar. She was known for her harsh jokes and it wasn’t long before she was advised to go down to a comedy club.

She went on to perform at a comedy store in Los Angeles where she was discovered by George Schlatter, a comedy producer.

She found herself in the world-dominated comedy club and was soon making jokes about her worthless husband.

She told Forth-Worth Star-Telegram, ”It’s all personal experience. I’m not an actress. I’m not Meryl Streep. I don’t go up there and invent all this stuff. It has to come from what you feel and believe, or else it’s not real. And if it’s not real, people don’t think it’s funny.”

In 1998 she premiered on the first episode of ABC’s sitcom Roseanne. It was the best debut that year and centered around Roseanne. Roseanne was pissed when she saw the first episode because writer Matt Williams had been credited as the “creator” of the entire series.

“We built the show around my actual life and my kids. The ‘domestic goddess, the whole thing,” Barr said.

Matt was finally dismissed and replaced with another writer.

Roseanne always struggled with her weight and while on the sitcom series Roseanne she hit 350 pounds and had to undergo bypass surgery.

“I had my entire digestive system removed, so I should look thinner,” she joked in 2007.

She didn’t know how to maintain her weight and soon started gaining weight again.

She changed her diet and a new lifestyle which helped her become slimmer.

Roseanne has three children and has been married three times. She got pregnant for the first time when she was 18 years. It was hard taking care of the child as her family didn’t want to help either so she opted for adoption.

Talking about her net worth, at the peak of Roseanne’s career, Oprah Winfrey was the only woman who earned more than her.

Roseanne Barr has proven that one’s beginning doesn’t matter as long as one work hard. She got united with the daughter she gave up for adoption and they live happily together with her other children and her boyfriend Johnny Argent.
