‘Immature and dumb,’ Harry admits to flirting with another lady while dating his ex-girlfriend; experts call it infidelity
Prince Harry has returned to the United Kingdom, barely weeks after attending his father, King Charles’, coronation. The aim of his visit this time was not a great, magnificent celebration, but rather a courtroom, where the prince is suing two British newspapers for allegedly hacking his phone and obtaining his voicemails.
The Duke is suing the Mirror Group Newspapers for allegedly illegal information gathering and claims he is entitled to monetary compensation. This comes after the media group was obliged to apologise to him.
Harry appeared in the High Court in London on Wednesday to testify. Some of the information contains pieces about Harry’s ex-girlfriend that he alleges are false. During the trial, he did, however, admit to having.
Prince Harry sued two British newspapers, The Sun and the Daily Mirror, in October 2019 for allegedly hacking his phone and collecting his voicemails.
The allegations against the media were filed on Harry’s behalf in the High Court of Justice, involving “illegal interception of voicemail messages,” according to Buckingham Palace. The palace did not release any additional specifics at the time, stating that “the particulars of the claims are not yet public.”
Harry slammed the “British tabloid press” for waging a “ruthless campaign” to defame his wife, Meghan Markle, comparing her treatment to that of his mother, Princess Diana, who had to hide from the paparazzi.
He claims he was “immature” and took a “stupid decision” in response to “allegations that I had been flirting with a brunette at the party.” The identify of the woman was not discussed in court.
“I hadn’t really thought about my actions, and I’d made a stupid decision,” Harry admitted, according to The Sun. “It was a challenging period for me.”
More information about Harry and Chelsy’s relationship was disclosed. The articles that were written were, of course, the main focus. The reporter stated in one article titled Chelsy Is Not Happy that Davy became enraged after learning Harry had visited a lap-dancing club in 2006.
According to the story, Chelsy “let rip in a string of phone calls,” and a “highly placed source” stated she went “berserk.”
According to Harry, “it said she slammed the phone down because she was too angry and then called back to scream at me for half an hour.”
The Duke, on the other hand, asserted that Chelsea was not offended by the piece.
“To the best of my knowledge, I don’t think Chelsy freaked out when I was there. We talked about it on the phone, but I promised her I hadn’t had a lap dance and that I had stayed with the three other cadets who had girlfriends,” Harry added.
Some may claim that flirting with someone else while in a relationship isn’t necessarily cheating. Others, on the other hand, believe it is.
There are many various perspectives on the subject; even relationship and marital counsellors do not always agree.
Shlomo Slatkin, a renowned clinical professional counsellor and trained relationship therapist, tells Cosmopolitan that while flirting is not strictly cheating, it may be considered a breach of fidelity because you are exhibiting interest in someone other than your partner.
“The mere thought of looking outside of the relationship and acting on it, however mildly, can be perceived as hurtful by your partner.” It’s also a slippery slope that you might not be able to get off if it goes beyond flirting,” he explained.
Dr. Sophie Ried, a certified counsellor, adding, “I think the biggest misconception is that cheating has to be physical—that’s not the case.” It can be both emotional and flirtatious.”
“I think the biggest misconception is that cheating has to be physical—that’s not the case,” said licenced family therapist Christie Tcharkhoutian. It can be emotional or flirtatious… Flirting may become a gateway drug to adultery if you don’t ask yourself the bigger questions.”
For several years, Harry and Chelsy Davy dated on and off. Before the couple split up for real in 2011, the British tabloids heavily covered their time together. Later that year, they met during the wedding of Prince William and Princess Kate, which was difficult for Harry.
“I also had mixed feelings about the hungry-looking men trailing her, circling her, nagging her to dance.” That night, jealousy got the best of me, and I told her so, which made me feel even worse. And a little pitiful,” the Duke remarked in Spare
Despite their split, Harry and Chelsy remained close.
