Irma Garcia identified as second teacher murdered in Robb Elementary School massacre

Garcia has been teaching in Robb elementary school for the past 23 years and was a co-teacher for 5 years according to her school profile.

She was recognized for her excellence in teaching when she was nominated as one of 19 finalists for the 2018-19 Trinity Prize for Excellence in Teaching in the year 2019.

She was one of the victims of the horrific mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. She spent her last moments shielding the children alongside her fellow educator, Eva Mireles.

Irma Garcia is a mother of four, her eldest son is in the process of completing Marine boot camp, and her youngest daughter is set to move on from 7th grade.

Garcia’s son, Christian Garcia, confirmed his mother was a victim of the horrific tragedy, as reported by NBC NEWS.

Garcia’s nephews also confirmed the devastating news on social media, calling her a hero.

“Eva Mireles and Irma Garcia were two of the greatest teachers Uvalde, [Texas] has ever known,” Natalie Arias, an education specialist who lives in Uvalde wrote.

“Their classroom was full of fun, growth, giggles, teamwork, and, most of all, love.”

Eva Mireles’s daughter took to Twitter to express her grief.

“I’m so happy that people know your name and that beautiful face of yours and they know what a hero looks like,” she said.

Ms. Garcia wrote on her Twitter, “She was a beautiful person & dedicated teacher. She believed in Gabby & went above & beyond to teach her.”

They died as a hero as she spent her last moments protecting those 19 children even though none of them made it, but investigations are still ongoing and 17 of them have been identified.

A gofundme has been set on behalf of the family to at least help them with expenses.
