Loving Single Father Creates the Most Amazing Hairstyles for His Daughter

Greg Wickherst is a single dad of a little girl, Izzy. One of his duties is to style her hair in the mornings, but he had no idea how to even tie a simple ponytail. But he was determined to be the best dad he could be to his now-almost-6-year-old daughter, so he went to beauty school!

With the help of some cosmetology students at the trade school where he works, Wickherst learned how to braid ‘n’ bun his daughter’s hair like a pro.

Although it began as a project for Izzy, Greg started to really enjoy trying out new styles. Soon he started creating his own intricate hairstyles, and eventually he began posting tutorial videos to Facebook and YouTube, where he calls himself “The Hair Dad.”

Wickherst’s most popular tutorial to date is the one for his easy-peasy, heat-free straw curls. To achieve them, all you have to do is wrap small sections of hair around plastic straws, secure them with elastics, and let them sit in your little one’s hair overnight.

When she wakes up in the morning, you simply remove the straws and finger-comb her hair — and voilà! She’s got picture-perfect spiral curls. (For Wickherst’s full tutorial, click here.)

“I learned how to do [Izzy’s] hair because I’m a single dad and I wanted my girl to look pretty,” Wickherst told Business Insider UK. “After doing her hair a few times, I found that this is a great way to bond. We have a great relationship, and it’s because of all the things we do together.”
