Carlos Morales and Erica Morales met each other for the first in 2006 at a nightclub in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Their story could be called a fairy-tale but it didn’t end as we all expected.

They were so different as Carlos speaks Spanish while Erica speaks English, but Carlos felt a tug in his heart the first time he saw her.

In the nightclub, Carlos walked up to Erica and asked for a dance which she obliged and they spent the night having a good time in the club. 

Before they went their separate ways, Carlos wrote down his number on a piece of paper which Erica later threw out you may think that was the end of their story, but no that was the beginning.

They had mutual friends and got to meet each other again through them and this time around they knew they won’t let each other go any longer as their feelings for each other were genuine and they wanted to be together.

Erica went on to learn Spanish while Carlos learned English and they decided to live together. 

In 2007, they got married in Las Vegas and wanted to expand their family.

Her first pregnancy ended in a miscarriage and Erica went to get fertility treatment. She turned out pregnant and during her first sonogram, she could see four tiny hearts beating.

It was a great moment for the Arizona couples and Carlos did all he can to keep the mother and quadruplets safe. Carlos stopped her from doing any chores and had to do everything all by himself, but that didn’t stop the tragedy that was bound to happen.

On January 15, 2015, the mother of four had to be rushed to the hospital because of high blood pressure. She texted Carlos, telling him the doctors wanted to bring out the kids and he had to leave all that he was doing to be by her side.

While waiting for the procedure to begin, the couple took pictures and made videos, while naming their children too. They decided on “Carlos Jr.” For the boy and Tracey and Paisley for the girls and couldn’t think of a name for the fourth, however, they decided to do that later when she was out of labor.

Before she went in, he kissed her forehead telling her, he loved her and couldn’t wait to be with her and the babies.

On January 15, 2015, Erica delivered the children via C-section and Carlos went on to share the happy moment, “We were so excited to start our family. And then it all came crashing down.”

Carlos was still trying to curtail the joy of his four Children when Erica went into hypovolemic shock. Carlos was by her side when the alarms suddenly went off and doctors announced she was gone.

It was one of the happiest and saddest moments of his life.

“How could this have happened? She was fine, and then she wasn’t. She was alive and then she was just gone. I went from having the best day of my life to the next morning experiencing the worst day of my life. My four babies came into the world and then my wife died.”

Carlos was devastated and alone, but he knew he had to be strong for the kids. He finally decided to name the fourth child, Erica.

Erica’s mother as well as some other members of the family moved in with him to take care of the children. Carlos took baby-care sessions for his children.

A friend of the couple set up a GoFundMe page to help the single father with the financial costs of raising the kids alone.
