Meghan Markle Ex Husband Trevor Engelson Now

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have now been married for years, yet that high profile wedding was not her first. Long before the royal ceremony she spent nearly a decade with film producer Trevor Engelson. They met in 2004, dated for about seven years, and married in September 2011 at the Jamaica Inn in Ocho Rios, Jamaica.

The celebration stretched across three days with roughly one hundred guests enjoying beach parties, drinking games, brunches and even a wheelbarrow race. The actual ceremony lasted only fifteen minutes.

Trevor was born on October 23 1976 in Great Neck on Long Island and later studied at the University of Southern California School of Communications. He started as a production assistant and steadily built a career as a producer and talent manager. He worked on films including Remember Me, which starred Robert Pattinson and featured a small cameo from Meghan early in her acting days. He also produced License to Wed and All About Steve and later found major success with the FX series Snowfall through his Beverly Hills company Underground.

When Meghan booked her breakthrough role on Suits just months before the wedding, she relocated to Toronto where the show filmed. The five hour flights and competing schedules put real strain on the marriage. They stayed in touch through video calls, yet the distance changed the dynamic. By 2013 they cited irreconcilable differences and divorced. Friends later described Trevor as devastated. Author Andrew Morton wrote that Meghan mailed her engagement and wedding rings back to him as a clear signal the marriage was over. Her half brother Thomas Markle Jr. once said Trevor had worshipped the ground she walked on.

After the split Trevor briefly dated Real Housewives of New York star Bethenny Frankel. She later recalled that he told her about his previous marriage to the Suits actress. In 2017 reports surfaced that he was attached as a producer on a Fox comedy about a man forced to share custody after his ex wife married a British prince. Deadline noted at the time that the characters were not based on Meghan or Trevor and the project never advanced beyond early development.

Four years after the divorce Trevor began dating nutritionist Tracey Kurland. They married on May 11 2019, a little more than a year after Harry and Meghan’s wedding at St George’s Chapel. The couple welcomed two daughters, Ford Grace in August 2020 and Sienna Lee in November 2021. They live in a wealthy Los Angeles neighborhood.

A friend who spoke anonymously to the Daily Mail said the end of the first marriage hit Trevor hard and that the constant publicity around Meghan and Harry, including the Oprah interview, reopened the wound. The same friend said things are different now. Trevor talks about how happy he is as a father and how fulfilled he feels. Everyone around him knows not to mention the M word. The friend described the quieter life, the family and the professional success as the ultimate revenge.
