Melania Trump Considering Permanent Exit from White House, Insider Claims
Melania Trump has always seemed to prefer her own space, especially during this second stint as First Lady. She’s kept a pretty low profile in Washington, and lately, whispers are growing that she might be ready to pack up and head out for good.
The Trumps’ marriage has been under the microscope for years now. Even after marking their 21st anniversary, people can’t stop speculating about how things really are between them. Author Michael Wolff—who Donald clearly isn’t a fan of—has said in the past that Melania isn’t exactly thrilled with her husband. There are even stories about them having separate bedrooms in the White House.

Back in March of last year, Wolff went further, claiming they barely share a life at all. “She doesn’t live with him. They spend very little time together,” he said on a podcast. “Whenever she’s at the White House or Mar-a-Lago, it’s like she’s a guest. She basically lives in Trump Tower now.”
Melania herself made it clear early on that things would be different this time around. She announced she wouldn’t be staying full-time in D.C., instead splitting her days between Washington, Florida, and New York.
Now there’s fresh talk that could shake things up even more. According to journalist Rob Shuter, who’s been sharing updates on his Substack, Melania is seriously thinking about making New York her permanent spot again and stepping away from Washington life. People close to her say the capital just never felt like home.
One insider put it simply: “D.C. was always temporary in her mind. Melania is a New York woman.”
She still heads down to Florida often enough—family time, some obligations—but the plan, per these sources, is to base herself in the city that suits her best.
The timing feels interesting too. After reportedly pulling in around $40 million from selling her documentary rights to Amazon, she’s gearing up to launch her own big lifestyle and luxury brand, just called “Melania.” It’s sounding pretty expansive: high-end fragrances, skincare lines, luxury home stuff, fashion pieces, plus some more everyday branded items.
One source described it as an ambitious setup, almost like an Oprah-level empire. “This is about turning Melania into a global luxury brand,” they said. “New York is where that happens—not Washington.”
