Melania Trump Is Reportedly Livid After Barron’s Private Late-Night Call with a Pastor Got Leaked

Melania Trump has spent nearly two decades doing everything in her power to keep her son Barron out of the spotlight. Now that he’s 19 and officially an adult, he’s starting to make his own choices, but it looks like Mom isn’t quite ready to loosen the reins completely.

Barron moved into the White House again this fall after transferring to NYU Stern’s campus in Washington, D.C., for his sophomore year. Melania has been splitting her time between D.C. and New York to be close to him, just like old times.

A few days ago a story started circulating that caught everyone off guard: Barron has apparently been having deep, late-night phone conversations with a pastor about faith and Christianity.

It all came out when pastor and therapist Stuart Knechtle went on the George Janko podcast on December 4 and casually mentioned he’d been on the phone with “Baron Trump” (he misspelled the name) at 12:30 a.m.

He described throwing “everything but the kitchen sink” at Barron: evidence for God, arguments for Christianity, the works. According to Knechtle, Barron stayed skeptical until the pastor brought up stories of thousands of Muslims in Africa reportedly converting after having visions of Jesus in their dreams. That seemed to really get Barron thinking.

“He said, ‘Oh, that’s a very, very interesting point… you have eyewitness testimony,’” Knechtle recalled. Then he dropped the bombshell: “He’s very close to putting his faith in Christ. Very close.”

Needless to say, the second Melania heard that this very personal, very private conversation had been broadcast on a podcast for millions to hear, she was furious.

Gossip columnist Rob Shuter, quoting people close to the Trump family, wrote that Melania sees the leak as nothing short of a betrayal. One White House insider told him: “She believes her family’s private life is sacred. This? It’s a betrayal.” Another source apparently said Melania “exploded” when she found out, and a third claimed her inner circle is now sending out strong reminders that leaks will not be tolerated, no matter how “innocent” the intention seemed.

For a mother who has fought tooth and nail to give her son at least some semblance of a normal private life, having something this personal splashed across the internet must feel like the ultimate violation.

Parenting a child in the public eye is hard enough; parenting the youngest son of a former (and now current) president when he’s trying to figure out his faith at 19? That’s a whole different level.

What do you think: at what point do you let your kids’ private moments stay private, even when the world is dying to know? Feel free to share your own parenting stories in the comments.
