Michael Douglas discusses his struggles with ageing and his health
My favourite films starring the legendary actor, Michael Douglas, are Wall Street and The Game. I’ve always enjoyed watching him perform.
But now, the 78-year-old has undergone a noticeable transformation, as evidenced by his most recent public appearances.
When Michael Douglas was at the height of his popularity, which was when I was growing up, it seemed like everyone agreed that he was one of the most attractive and charming performers.
He resembled the ideal American man at the time of his Hollywood debut. The seasoned actor has demonstrated his versatility over his five decades in the business by excelling in a wide range of parts and personalities.
The Oscar-winning actor, though, is perhaps best known for playing the unscrupulous Gordon Gekko (Wall Street) and sad millionaire Nicholas Van Orton (The Game).
According to Douglas, having an image and cultivating it might provide security and protection for some people. “But… I’ve never had to stress about the gritty, slick personalities that some of my parts require.
“When I see your name, I don’t know what the movie is going to be about, but I know it’s going to be good,” is the finest compliment I’ve ever received.

Michael developed an early interest in the acting industry. His father, Kirk Douglas, used to spend the summers with him while he was frequently on set for movies. When he was in his teens, he realised he wanted to be an actor and asked his father to find him some roles of his own. He spent time with his father on film sets.
In the movie Cast a Huge Shadow, in which his father also had a role, Michael Douglas made his acting debut as an uncredited driver. Michael Douglas had a brief role in the television series The F.B.I. before landing his first movie role. The show’s producer Quinn Martin was impressed, and Douglas subsequently landed a role in the upcoming police drama The Streets of San Francisco. The show’s 1972 debut would prove to be Douglas’ major breakthrough performance.

Whatever your opinion of the actor’s dramatic physical metamorphosis, it’s a reality that Michael Douglas went through some trying times. Others could argue that it began in 2010 when the seasoned actor received a tongue cancer diagnosis.
Douglas had been battling for a while and was having mouth discomfort, but multiple doctors failed to identify the true cause of the issue. When Douglas finally sought the advice of a friend’s physician in Canada, he received a response he preferred not to hear.

We need a biopsy, he remarked. No other doctor had ever noticed a walnut-sized tumour at the base of my tongue.
The actor was forced to start the rigorous therapy as soon as he discovered that his disease had already progressed.
Yet in a pretty unexpected interview from 2013, Michael Douglas offered out a different justification. Amazingly, Douglas claimed that oral sex was the root of his cancer.
He discussed how his cancer was caused by HPV (human papillomavirus), the most prevalent sexually transmitted infection.
I was concerned that my son’s incarceration-related stress might have contributed to its onset. Nonetheless, it is true that this cancer-causing virus is transferred sexually. Cunnilingus is also the greatest treatment if you already have it, according to Michael Douglas.
Following the eye-catching interview, Michaels’s spokesperson asserted that the actor was speaking generally about HPV and was not alluding to his diagnosis.
It appears that Douglas liked life and maintained his fitness after the traumatic experience of cancer treatment. Yet the COVID-19 pandemic, which struck, had a bad impact on his health in a number of ways.
When I realised how much energy I had lost during the pandemic, he commented, “I was pretty startled.”

His amnesia, which was once perhaps a little endearing, is now “not fine.” Since Douglas has been so forthcoming about his marijuana use, many people assumed that this is the cause of his memory loss.
The actor claims that this incident is not the result of his affection for the dried hemp plant leaves and blossoms.
I used to blame marijuana. Yet, I have friends who have smoked for as long as I have and have wonderful memories, so I don’t believe that’s the problem. I’m looking into that,” he stated.
